I think people should know US States... AND Canadian provinces. It's important parts of geography considering how big they are.

That's the kind of statement that makes the Ugly American stereotype grow. Yes, I know what you meant, but it still sounds ugly.
Size is not that important when it comes to geography. Most European countries are very small, and still are important. Why, the Vatican is tiny; by your logic, we shouldn't be concerned by it.
On the other hand, by your standards, you Americans should know where Chihuahua or Oaxaca are in Mexico. They're bigger than most of your states.
I think everyone should know where other countries are, and the states of their own country. Of course, that's the bare minimum.

Not necesarily. The judge usually has some latitude, and it is perfectly possible that the license would be consideres as valid, and only a particular clause --or even sentence-- would be stricken.

If I write a license that says: "you can distribute my copyrighted work if you dance the makossa twice a day", that's perfectly valid. Up to you to accept it or not.

But if your license said "you can distribute my copyrighted work unless you're a negro, jap or beaner", I'm pretty sure it could be considered invalid.
I'm not sure what my point is... I guess it's simply that nothing is quite as simple as it seems.

Again (as you obviously haven't read the whole thread) I'm not saying torture works as an instrument of investigation. I'm saying it always breaks the prisoner.
To be short, I was responding to this boneheaded statement from parent:
Between acting out of spite and acting out of self-interest, spite almost always wins. That's why torture never works. Between not having them jab a spike into your balls, and making the jerk who wants to do that feel like he's bad at torture, you go with making the guy feel bad.

Now, with the proper context, tell me again how torture does not work.
As for your ad hominem attack, I'll let it slide, since obviously you had no idea what you were talking about. Cheers.
