While there is some truth to that, I cannot agree completely. If someone would download the iso otherwise, but doesn't have the bandwidth, then of course it makes more sense to put 5$ on a CD then 30$ for the same thing... it's not like the official outlet lost a sale in this case.
Thanks for clearing that up:) Now all I have to do is prevent the photons from disrupting my molecular dna bonds and I'm safe from cellphones? This is wonderful news!
If you don't mind giving it another try, get a knoppix iso, and run directly from the cd. If your 3d is detected properly, you might want to install it on your hd, but you don't have too.
Another important question: where can we see some data one p2p usage? For different networks, etc. I tried to find something like the
plots I have, but never found anything. And when I offered my data, over a years worth, I never got a reply.
Is the simple answer that there is no demand for such information?
About Knoppix going DVD, what I heard was that a DVD was being put together, but will only be available hand out at linuxtag. The next CD version should be done after that.
According to the logs I keep of kazaa's traffic, usage has declined by something like 2%... Maybe I'm not getting the whole picture. The way I sample the data to make the pretty plot is simply by reading from my kazaalite client's status bar, and logging those numbers (users, files, GiB) to a text file which I massage with php+gd every once in a while.
Let me know if you need more data, I have over a years worth.
When you start knoppix from the cd, instead of just waiting or hitting enter at the prompt, try this instead:
knoppix lang=us
Actually, hit F2 to see the whole list of cheatcodes. Now, was that hard? If you install to harddisk now, your language and other settings should stick. Good luck!
"Godel, Escher, Bach" is the name of the book, by Douglas Hofstadter. Should be easy enough to find, although it's almost 25 years old now. An excellent read by an excellent author.
Does anybody with mod points actually check the URLs in a comment before modding the person up? First off, its EDR, not EDS... and secondly, the link leads to a FAQ on lead batteries. Really people, listen up!
Miranda supports many ways of setting your away status, via plugins. It can work accross all protocols, or only a few you choose. It can changes your status if you're watching a movie or playing a game, etc.
Actually, icq is available as a plugin since at least a month now. Maybe it hasn't been released officially, but it's available in the nightly builds, so the next official version should make you plenty happy.
Just look at what happened to the png format:)
But seriously, every bit will help.

Actually, Tremor, the integer codec, took care of that over a ago according to the changelog. And it's released under a bsd-like license.

Isn't it ironic that an RFC would be published so late in the format's life? I guess the old meaning is completely obsolete, and Request For Change doesn't really fit the bill either...

In conclusion, let the users decide :)
sniff, linehq isn't responding :(
But I found this: Line (Line Is Not and Emulator)

Sorry, just couldn't help myself...
Talking about security thru obscurity, I think someone overdone it this time...

The fragmented graphs you see are the days and nights alternating, as well as me loosing my connection when I moved to my new appt. a few days ago.

See the package list at ftp://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/knoppix/packages.txt which mentions java, but I'm not 100% sure it's what you want...

You forgot to mentino typogenetics!! I coded a few "engines" myself, mostly as a toy. It's pretty entertaining, in a "Game of Life" sort of way.
