MAVAV is dedicated to educating parents in today's fastest increasing threat and danger to our child's health and way of life: Videogame Addiction and Violence and Underground Videogame Cultures
Today videogame addiction is becoming an ever increasing problem, comparable now, even to alcohol and drug abuse. While videogame companies continue to market violence aimed at vulnerable children and young teens. And the newest absurdity, underground videogame cultures which takes gaming to another level, tainted with online "clans", singling out of people, hatred, racism, and sexism.
So much laughs. It was so cheezy, it became a comedy. It pulled a "Glitter".
Cool, Tompkins Square is on the list...

The Wireless City

· Score: 2, Interesting
I live directly across from it on 7th street (East Village).
I wonder if I'll be able to tap into the network for free.:)
The city has been trying to pimp this area for a while now, it was really bad years ago. I guess they'll do anything to get MORE people here (E. Village = one big ass bar and resturant)
If you know what you're doing, and trained eyes (color), you don't need to know black is black.
Unless you're doing super-professional work, it shouldn't matter. And if you were, you would probably be working at a super-professional workstation (multi-mon (lcd/crt), with this and that).
The typical user and internet photochop kiddy shouldn't have to 'care' that much. Not enough for them to completly shutout lcds as a possible buy.
Only problem with lcd's is the response time, which is needed ( 25ms) to play FPS games. RPG's and 'slower' games aren't affected. And you must play them at your LCD's set resolution to get the best image. But shouldn't be a problem with all the new vid cards out now (Radeon 9500).
But who says you have to throw away your old monitor? Dual monitor setup baby!
Not only that, but the ads will run during relevant portions of the programming (see a guy shaving in the mirror, get a pop-up ad from a razor company
That is all...
---
I also don't think this is possible. Every vision sounds great in text, but when/if they release this tv popups.. it will suck, and will look horribly crappy. From the article, the tv pop ups seems annoying, but clean, as in, it will be placed and used in a sensible way...
but it reality, no one at the ad company is gonna sit and watch every show figuring out where their gonna place ads. humans = weak, will never go as planned
I still play it on my GBA... Have both Tetris worlds and Doom... also have a system link and play it all the time against my freinds at resturants screaming and cursing...
I've always stayed loyal to html and images over flash. Flash is a newb tool used by newbs who find it too hard to develop a visually equal version in html.
It's just like an advanced version of imageready... you lay out an image... let the program cut it up for you, tada, a website.
But I'm not saying I hate flash, I am really impressed with those math/physic flash projects, and I think flash is a great movie/game tool. but a 100% flash website = tacky.
So far, I've been able to dodge the evil likes of flash at my school (parsons.edu), but teachers and future employers are most likely going to expect every designer to use flash, b/c it looks pretty. *sigh*
I did a paper freshmen year about why ONLINE PC GAMERS are the smartest people around.
You figure out what I wrote about, b/c im tired to type =\
It was a good paper about how they pick up information through irc and how gaming online makes them smarter. and it stems out to news sites, hardware, software, this taht.. it was cool.
MAVAV.org Let's stop videogame addiction and violence today!
I find their report card particulary absurd

The whole color issue is over-rated.

Parsons School of Design (NYC)...
Old newz.
I think...
I have freinds who go to the science and art departments at Cooper Union. Tough over there.
maybe they can finally make shows friken longer... w/o the commercials, shows are only like 15 minutes...
Not only that, but the ads will run during relevant portions of the programming (see a guy shaving in the mirror, get a pop-up ad from a razor company

Bork, bork, bork!
Igpay Atinlay

Aphex Twin (Richard D. James) is considered the 'father' of IDM ... Intelligent Dance Music
buncha laptop performers and such.
other good idm: lexaunculpt, jake slazenger, etc
oldie but goodie, face of aphex
Seriously though.. w/o warez, a lot of people would probably not be where their at today.
Like my friend, he got his first copy of visual basic 3 back in the AOL proggie days. After that, he was hooked, and now, he's at MIT.
Same similar story for me with a copy of Photoshop 4. I'm sure MANY other people have had the same experience.
*sigh*
Jason goes to hell was a good movie. So was freddy's last nightmare (in 3d!)
then they ruined it with JasonX, and probably, most likely, "Freddy X: Nightmare in Cyberspace", starring britney spears and music score by n`sync.
HOLLYWOOD ROX!!!
what ever happened to this movie?
I remember reading rumors way back in the last century (90's) in comic magazines likes Wizard [:)]
its probably too late now though. knowing hollywood, they'll probably use cg aliens vs real costume predators...
cg aliens = not cool
read my other post:
The future, brought to us by Microsoft...
huh, duh, argh, ya, lotta cursing and other wierd body noises
PS: if you moderate this down...
STFU N GTFO! =)
