No, you were right the first time. Flashing red lights mean stop and go if clear, your mistake is that if a tram is coming it's NOT clear. Once the tram passes you may go, even if the lights stay on for a while.
That's a limitation on human stamina more than speed. The average human can sprint much faster than that. As far as a robot, I'd say this is more of a sprint speed, as it's stamina is only limited by battery life. Not to say that it's not impressive.
Anybody else as curious/excited as I am to find out what Nintendo's big secret is? Maybe I'm just being an overly-optimistic loyalist, but I think they have more up their sleeve than the press is giving them credit for. The Revolution is practically ignored in every article I've read, it's always "PS3 vs. Xbox 360, and oh yea, Nintendo has one too but we don't know anything about it yet so they don't count."
They're estimating a billion users, not units sold. So a family of five all using one console counts as five users, while your situation only counts as one. The fact that you take such great care of your PS2 that you're on your third, well I think it's abnormal.
I think Apple provides excellent documentation and tutorial at http://developer.apple.com/. I've always been a fan of the O'Reilly books, and they provide lots of free articles at their MacDevCenter. That should be enough to get you started.
Yes, every Mac(and Mac OS X) ships with Apple's XCode. From my experience it is an amazingly powerful and easy to use development suite, the best I've ever used. I only wish I had the opportunity to use it at work.
For those of you who think otherwise, most states already require you pay sales tax for items purchased over the internet. This is actually called a "use tax" because you pay it directly to the state. However, I've never heard of one individual actually paying a use tax. Wisconsin's governor is simply proposing that this use tax also extend to downloads.
Now, personally I think it's a dumb idea and will never work, because what do you define as a download then?/. tax?
Be careful with that, as I have read some pretty terrible reviews of Quicken for Mac(all versions), although I have never used it. I'd do some more research if that's your only reason for buying.
(Right now, the technology is priced at $45 per square foot.)
As an external glaze, PV-TV allows up to 10% visible light to be transmitted through the panel.
Since the PV-TV screens don't have the luminosity of liquid crystalline or a digital TV screen, they perform best when there are no other competing light sources[...]
If you were to drive your car the way they did, you'd be impressed with the mileage you got. I was in one of these competitions once, and although there is quite a bit of efficiency gained in building the car light and aerodynamic, most of it comes from the driving technique.
I'm not sure what the rules are for this particular one(RTFA), but in our competition in Minnesota we basically accelerated to 30MPH, then killed the engine and coasted down to 10MPH, then accelerated to 30MPH, etc.
The lack of any other features, like an alternator or a/c, also would provide a boost.
They shouldn't need any information. They just need a list of all available updates, and the client can check to see if any are needed. Microsoft shouldn't need to collect any data whatsoever.
I'm not picking on Microsoft, I think any company would/does/has every right to collect this information. It's free usage statistics.
Your moderate-traffic website has just been posted on slashdot without notice. You are being bombarded with eager viewers, just hoping for another kill. Your bandwidth usage has skyrocketed, slowing the speeds to pre-dialup rates. What do you wish to do now?
a) Shutdown server/Hide content
b) Counter-slashdot slashdot!
c) Go buy a super server
d) My webserver running off an iPod can take it! Bring it on!
This is going to be the jesus portable console. It will probably fail because I don't see how they will keep the cost down enough to justify it. But I'm sure it will have an effect on all types of gamers. I realize I'm just reiterating everything that was said the last time this came up, but I think we're now starting to see how feature-packed this may become. So the question is, will it be bloated? We'll have to wait and see.
Programmable Thermostat?

So this is essentially a programmable thermostat for your PC with some more advancded features like zones, right? Or am I missing something?
So I got a new dockers leather wallet for christmas. It's nice, I go about my daily activity, and when I walk into Target, it sets off the alarm. Meh. Nobody stopped me. Happens again when I walked out. It also happened at Barnes and Noble and Marshall Fields. Funny thing is, nobody stopped me for weeks.
At one point I decided I should figure out what exactly was doing it(I didn't know it was the wallet at this point) so I emptied my pockets and passed them through one by one. I narrowed it down to the wallet, emptied it out completely, and it still set it off. No visible tags or anything on it. It just appears to be a leather wallet.
Eventually I was actually stopped at Barnes and Noble and the guy waved my wallet over something and it deactivated the RFID tag I assume. Thats my story.
...or does it seem odd that a multi-billion dollar spacecraft can be damaged and ultimately destroyed by a piece of foam? How large/dense was this foam? What was its purpose?
Yes. Probably more so.

Anybody else think that title could have been worded better to avoid confusion with the more common LA?
10% of 33.6 million = 3 million So they're saying that 10% of the TVs that don't have cable or satellite are not used for watching TV at all.

You're kidding? I forgot mine last time so I bought another just to get in the store.

I thought it went something like this:
1. Give something valuable away for free.
2. ???
3. Profit!

Maybe they should start programming the viruses to check for valid CD keys ;-)

My friends and I decided to use ours to shoot down a beehive a couple months back. Here's the link.
Finally found something that people won't(hopefully) bitch at em about.
Is this anything other than a summary of this?
