    I'm talking out of my ass here, but I'm guessing the reason we don't see many PDA like devices with USB ports is because of the power requirments in the spec.

    Well, somehow I doubt Bush grew up in a 'mixed language enviroment', as most of us think of it. Unless you count the help, of course.

    Outside of the PC world, there are several machines that are capable of basic networking in the BIOS. DHCP, ping, TFTP, etc. Even as far back as '93.

    I personly like the old idea, that a Kg is one liter of water, one liter = 10Cm^3. The article mentioned this was discarded because of the dificulty of working with water. Still, it has a lot of elegance, and links nicley with the concept of temurature.

    Top of my head, possibly wrong answer; Blackholes slowly evaporate over time, due to the Hawking Effect. As a hole loses mass, the effect goes faster. The amount of mass used in these experiments will result in a hole that evaporates in a tiny fraction of a second. In that short a span, there is not enough time to pull in enough mass to stop the evaporation.

    I still would not like to know the exact time of this experiment :-).

    Given the quality of released (old) ground images, and the fact that their wouldn't be any distortion,I would guess a visible light image would be very high resolution.

    The article mentioned the next step as trying to use sound waves to do it instead of bullets. I seems plausible that this might not take a very large energy souce for some interesting applications.

    Correct. Saddam probably moved them to other countries, like say, Syria. Good thing we'll be bombing them next.

    Your willingness to belive an obvious lie is stunning. I'm as happy as anyone to see Saddam's reign over, but he did not have WMD, had no connection to Bin Laden (or to any international terrorisim, beyond funds for PLO bombers families), and was not planning to suddenly rise up and destroy the U.S.

    P.S. The 9/11 bomers all came from Saudi Arabia.

    The great thing about Quartz (and I suppose Longhorn), is that all the eye-candy is offloaded onto the video card, which usually just sits there doing nothing with a traditional desktop.

    The first time I watched a semi-transparent DVD window minimize, and stay playing while minimizing and in the dock, I was, like, wow.

    I don't know what you would use one of these for, but I have a iPAQ H3900 running linux that has wireless, Apache, Grass, SSH, nmap, and a host of other usefull packages. I can stick it in my bag/cargo pants, and forget about it, unlike a notebook. Truth be told, I played with WinCE for about 3 minutes when I got the thing, but I have a hard time beliving it could come close to this level of functionality.

    Of course, if I actually wanted to use it to keep track of my hectic schedule, I'd stick with WinCE.

    NVidia's Cg language is a C like language for GPUs. You can download the compiler and examples from nvidia. Writing for a GPU is not trivial, though, and getting the best use out of it requires quite a bit of knowledge about how a GPU works.

    In my UT days, on a large instagib map, I could reguraly walk away with 50 kills, 0 deaths. This get one accused of cheating a lot. In the year that I was playing several hours a day, I only ever saw 3 or 4 cheaters, and they were obvious.

    IFAIC, the only possible way to spot a cheater is by spectating. Ignore how fast his reflexes are, and look at his strategy. Does he do a route that runs by all the pickups? Does he look behind himself a lot? Does he play smart? Then he's probably not cheating.

    To get a cheat free server, admins should find players that visit a lot and arn't jerks and give them admin rights. Simple.

    1)Dude! Your list of 'cheating' offences is funny, but you're just encouraging those idiots!
