Geez, I dunno. I bought some dells for $469 including office and XP pro. They were all up and running and service packed in under an hour each (45 minutes of which was moving the old crud and opening boxes). No sweat at all. OF course for this to work you actually have to know how to use active directory, RIS, SUS, and so forth, but it's all pretty trivial. No support calls at all. It just works.
No problems with Linux, but I have better luck with SMall Business Server packages - SQL, Exchange, blah blah blah, pretty cheap, especially if you're upgrading (from another os or from another Windows flavor)
I see you take the coward's way out- claim that whatever is good was done by Republicans but just took x (adjust x to the length of time since a Republican has been in office) to kick in. Bad stuff, you just say a Democrat really did it and again adjust X to prove your claim.
Unless you have a separate universe somewhere where you can test these claims, you are not fooling me. The good stuff was all done in CLinton's first two years when he had a Democratic majority. Once the Republicans got control of Congress they enacted stupid legislation that kicked in about the time Clinton was headed out. Prove otherwise. You can't.
Pretend you're, oh, say, Donald TRump. Run up a bunch of bills, then go bankrupt. You'll still have the junk, and if your credit rating is
-1000, then your identitiy is useless.
You can incorporate for under $500, get a p.o. box and a cheesy voicemail account somewhere. You'll then be prepared to moonlight, which you should be anyway, and you can give out the business info.
Is that realtime or your time? Cuz I can get XP installed and completely patched in under 15 minutes of my time. Realtime under an hour. Of course I do use Active Directory and preconfigured RIS images and SUS, and that might not be your case.
It appears you should be fired. YOu could have used SUS, there was plenty of time to test the patch, I deployed it to my entire organization in, well, 10 minutes to install SUS and read the manual, then I told them it took me three days and I played quake in the server room.
Buy a house, sink every bit of cash you can into it, run up your credit cards to the max and declare bankruptcy. No one will steal your identity, at least for credit purposes. You still have a house which you can sell after the heat dies down and then you just pay cash for whstever you want.
Costa Rica is nice, I've heard.
Maybe you could try Microsoft's FREE Software Update Service (SUS) which lets you download all updates to a centtral server, approve the ones that work and automatically deploy them to your Active Directoy clients - I patched 64 machines in less than 10 minutes of my time.
I sure hope knowing how to use MIcrosoft products doesn't get me banned from Slashdot...
Since most people are stupid, and I don't like to waste my time, does that make me an introvert? Just because I don't want to chit-chat about Survivor or American Idol?
Cops are always honest and unbribe-able (sp?). Besides the US government has never abused any of its powers.
And the government needs to know your credit rating. Because if you are poor you are a criminal in America today. If you are poor you might have motivation to commit a crime, rich people don't commit crimes because they're already rich.
This is the way AMerica is going - taxes are bad, so the only services we will get is for-pay (and militatry services), and poor people need to undestand that being poor is a sin and they will die for their sins. Because the only reason for being poor is being lazy.
You are NOT supposed to actually know anything about Windows on Slashdot. Knowing as much about WIndows as you do about Linux may get an assasin sent to your house.
I went in the summer and it is spectacular. I don't go above I-10 in the winter (and I recommend this to you), so I don't know, but I suspect that you wouldn't want to camp or visit if it's snowing, and I think it may even be closed in January. Pennekamp is great, it IS the place to be in January, do Canaveral and Miami Beach on the way too.
I got an A/C running, 4 pc's, kids screaming, etc. I'd have to have it massively cranked up to the point of brain damage to drown all that stuff out so I could tell the difference. If I had an audiophile environment I'd pay the extra bucks. It's like having a killer stereo in the car with a bad wheel bearing - you can't tell the stereo's better than stock until you turn it up enough to drown out the road noise.

feh. some people can't tell the diff between troll & humor. Of course maybe it wasn't funny but there are three other posts that at least got a 0.
GUI's are for WIndows users! U r a loser! Get down with the scripts or die!
yeah - work my ass off for 10 years to get a ph.d. in (xxxxxx) only to see goof-offs with MBA's in management earn 10x more than me - great idea!
They're nice enough guys, and I think they were engineering students pre-rock.

Well you forgot to ask me because I use XP and I like it just fine, in my environment it is rock solid, easy to manage and easy to update.
Hey - don't you know that actually knowing how to do things right with MS products is cause for being banned from slashdot?

Because if the media were liberal than these would be OVER-reported
I have a rock that is god. Prove me wrong.
Gee, maybe you should try deploying SP4 thru Group Policies in Active directory - that way you wouldn't need SMS

Well, sometimes the patches don't work right, especially if you have custom apps.
