  1. What about fiber? on Broadband Envy: Fixing American Broadband · · Score: 1

Verizon is deploying fiber lines for FTTP uses, they offer 30/5 for $200 which is still a lot more than you would pay in Japan for less, but really that the fastest a residential can get right now with out shelling $1000s for a 100/100 line. It's probably cheaper for it though if you live next to the railroad tracks since usually the fiber runs along them, but still it's a few thousand there. The 15/2 from Verizon seems pretty good for $50. They are already deploying fiber in my town of Yardley, PA in Bucks county, Keller TX has it, by next year there should be 8 million homes with it.

  2. Re:It could be the Windows domination all over agi on Microsoft to Launch Online Music Store · · Score: 1

How is this a troll? Microsoft did screw Apple out the market before, why do you think that Apple only has a 3% desktop marketshare? They did it by getting OEM x86 PC manufactures to sell their OS. Since Microsoft isn't selling a hardware media player, they need exisiting MP3 manufactures. Sure it won't be as nice as the iPod and iTunes, but it didn't matter before either.

I still boycott the RIAA but I listen to Rush, Rush is an independent band atleast in Canada(they actually own their own copyrights, besides being great musicians they were smart thinkers back in the day), but in the US their music is distributed by Atlantic and Mercury (now part of Universal). To get around this to make sure Rush will get the most of my money off the sale, I have a friend buy it from Canada, then ship it to me, and I give him the money. Then I get the Anthem label only and the funny British spellings.

This whole random search thing does shit except add delays at the airport. Matches shouldn't be allowed on airplanes and yet they are, what will it take to stop that, a shoe bomber who sucessfully blows up an airplane. Probably. Sept 11th happened out of lack of commonsense, and Dept. not wanting to share information with each other.

I moved to Yardley, PA (right over from Trenton), one thing I noticed immediately from being a FMR. Jersey resident, PA people tailgate unbelieveably, and they know they do it. I have even seen signs that say, "No Tailgating Zone." Yet, they tell me Jersey drivers are terrible. I don't see how New Jersey ranks #1 for most expensive car insurance when you have asshole drivers in PA, it must be up there though because my insurance didn't drop a whole lot, and I haven't gotten a speeding ticket or other violation as of yet.

I don't know how Atlantic comes into play perhaps Atlantic Records gets exclusive rights to distribute their works in US of America and if they decide to change labels the work done under Altantic remains their to distribute but atleast in Canada they are independent.

Rush gets an unheard of payment per CD sold, something like $1.50 a CD, and their racking in something like $500,000 or more per night this tour from what I've seen.

People will finally see what crooks those elected leaders are, sure there is no such things as an honest politician and Joe Sixpack knows this, but he just may not know how their representatives are huge sellouts to corporations. Once all these Joe Sixpacks see what the hell is going on, something will be done. So let this law pass, it's the only way change will happen.
