Will I be forced to crunch so many data units before I download an mp3??
Could I set the program to lowest priority, download 1000 mp3s in an hour, and then turn it off?? If so they will be losing money... And if not, people on lowend machines won't bother, especially when they can use something similar(except for being illegal) for free.

I used to scam very often in UO. Not quite in the same way, instead use of exploits and/or the social engineering of another player. Just a year or so agao, people were extremely easy to scam. A 10mil scam was exciting and yielded about $200US. Unfortunatly people don't seem as gullible now =[
For some reason there is just a feel of joy when you scam some 11 year old out of his gold that he just purchased from ebay with his mommies money... And then you sell it back to him!!

I would think that that would not be much of a problem. I believe all of the netcode is Half-Life code, and hasn't been modified by the CS team.

My music collection is about 50/50 mp3 and ogg... I want to convert them all to ogg.
Will the reencoding degrade the quality?? I'd think as long as I keep them the same bitrate it would be the same... But couldn't there be a slight loss ??
As fo web browsers, you could always use Dillo. It may be lacking in feutures(such as frames) but it is very lightweight. Only other option I would think that you have is useing Lynx.
Or you could always pick up a Pentium 2 for $50 =)
In the past, upgrading has not been nesescary, in fact, up until last May I played ANY game just fine on a P2 412mhz w/ 256mb ram and a geforce 2 gts... Now I am on an athlon 1800+(OCed to past 2000+) 512mb pc2700 ddr ram, and a geforce 3... And I need to upgrade my video card to play the latest games.
Doom 3 won't even run well on a GeForce 4 if you want all the cool features on! There is now a reason to go out and buy a GeForceFX for $500... And I'm going to do it =)

I also use Gentoo Linux^H^H^H^H^HGNU/Linux... I have decided that Windows 2000 is THE LAST Windows I will ever install. If my games don't run well on Linux(or any other OS, including OS 10.x), then too damn bad, I won't play them.

The best 4x strategey game I have found is Space Empires IV Gold>. The graphics may not be sophisticated, but look decent enough. The gameplay is bliss.

If we are only limited by resolution, then why doesn't halo look photo-realistic, but TV does??
Resolution doesn't mean much, I can put CS in 1600x1200 and it won't look as nice as Doom 3 in 1024x768 =/
