Google will go into history as the single-most used word that described an intelligent action (OK, so maybe "think" is competition). And I don't see it going away anytime soon.

PS Lest we forget the pigeons that made it all possible
I suspect that Google employs the nucular radiation-enhanced, super pigeons as actual editors (as opposed to the slashdot phenomenon). Regular columbiformes are probably relegated to mundane crawling/pecking duty.
My site, which is admittedly somewhat unique, has been listed in the top 5 for over 18 months now if the appropriate keywords are used.
Of course, it also helps that those keywords are snarklbort, giffleblag and byzgetford.

Atleast from IE's point of view. It sounds as though the way pipelining is done is by simply trying a request first and they are using some low level api to the network stack. So if the connection happens to be open they get a speed up, if not they get a slow down. Seeing as the connection is going to be open more than it is closed it's a general plus. The IIS team probably noticed this and just accepted the command even though there wasn't actually a valid TCP connection present. So if they receive a packet that looks enough like a HTTP request then do it. There's probably a stack of vulnerabilities here. [...]
I'm confused now, does all this mean that IE sucks and I should now use anythingexceptmicrosoft browser?

I'm sure the Duke Nukem' group have made so much cash off the old franchise, that its pretty much a rich-person's hobby at this point.
That's a pretty astute observation, what with the recent Slashdot subjects regarding "what should I do with my life" and "what should a rejected college person do" and all the ensuing replies about how to live one's life when money is concerned.
IMO, the FPS has been done to death since DOOM and the people that originally played (or should I write, "plaid" in/. parlance?) that game are tired of all the iterations that are just the same thing with different boogeymen and rooms.
I don't have twitchy mousefinger disease; I'm waiting for C&C Generals and the not forthcoming Total Annihilation sequel.

I'd think that getting Paramount's blessing beforehand would have been difficult to get and having it would likely have involved all sorts of nitpicking, effectively killing the project.
I'd like to know how they were able to afford to put it all together (one example from an article states that they rented a warehouse for two years for the sets) and if they expect to eventually make any money from it.

Bio-diesel is gaining acceptance and outlets in Germany, as is LNG (liquid natural gas), but this car wasn't using them. DaimlerChrysler is still working on hydrogen power, a much more sensible fuel.
[enable pedantry] It's 'liquefied natural gas', not liquid natural gas.
H2 as a fuel is not a panacea, it is not dense enough. You gotta use energy to split the raw stream (source) in the first place, and the current way to do this is via cryogenics - not the Walt Disney kind.
If I sold you a mo-ped and told you it was a Ford Explorer, I'd be guilty of fraud - because I misrepresented it as a trademarked good. If not for the trademark, I'd be innocent so long as there was a sticker on it saying 'Ford Explorer'.

I want to see a computer screen built into the top of Drillzilla so that the Robotwars cameras can display what it's saying as it runs around the arena. Like, "Ouch!, Got ya now, ya bastard!", etc. It would have to have some decent shock-absorbing system, possiblly diluted petroleum jelly.
BTW, I can't find much about Drillzilla's drive mechanism and high horsepower rating, it seems to be unique. Does anyone have any good reference URLs about how it works?
How many times have you gone to a movie and remarked "when that happened, the whole crowd laughed, yelled, groaned, etc."
Any truth to the rumour that movie theatres now employ professional laughers, yellers and groaners in the audience to convince fellow moviegoers that they're actually Having A Good Time?
When will a consumer version be anywhere near that, and why do we really need to have 11mpixels for most shots, after 2mpix it was really hard to tell the difference anyway.
Agreed. For the consumer market, optical zoom, memory card capacity/format, ease of transfer to computer, zoom speed and latency (push shutter button, wait 2 seconds) are the most important factors.

All tucked away down there, you mean?
