    The big plus of a T1 is 99.9% uptime. Its contractuly bound that they get someone out right away. With my cable, I need to get to third tier before ANYTHING can be done.

    Sobig is a trojan. It allows other applications to be installed on the compromised system. That could easily be used to allow a DDOS attack.

    Sure, You can do that, but the problem is not that its impossible to block. The problem is that you wolnt do these things automaticaly. Would you have done that without knowing about the autopatcher? Besides, what good is a Linux Xbox if it cant talk to the rest of your network?

    Problem: You dont have to connect it to Live. You need to hook it up to any internet connection. Thats easily accidently accomplished when you hook it up to your lan. Then, go to multiplayer mode to play over lan and it patches. Its got nothing to do with live.

    This isnt the first game he's written. Lucasarts had him for at least 2 of their adverture classics, "The Dig" and "Monkey Island" (the fabulous insults were all written by him), and probably more that I never bothered to read the credits for.

    Macrovision ahs been a major problem for me when veiwing commercial dvd's, because it doesnt recognise my graphic card's video out as being certified (despite the video out and drivers are the same ones used on EVERY frigging NVidia graphics card). I'm sure Microsoft could write code that could detect a tv out and disable it or playback. However, I'm equaly sure that I could buy a converter from the monitor signal to tv-out or svideo that Microsoft could not detect.

    This is an exception, so none of the rest of the DMCA applies to it (unless this exception has excetions, which it may well). Also, you are circumventing the copy protection so that you may have something new that is interoperable with the HARDWARE and BIOS.

    Gamespy Arcade Sucks. No bones about it. and most of their stuff sucks too. But ANYTHING even partialy written by fargo is great. He's a vet to the gaming industry too, ever play the Oh so Wonderful Fallout 1&2?

    I have about 20 cd's on my hard drive. I own all of them, as well as all but one of the movies I have. So who's gonna say that I have to pay rediculous fee's for them? It'd be cheaper to buy the cd's, making all the content completley legit, and if the fu^H^H^H morons at the RIAA want to sue me they can sure as hell try. It is NOT, repeat NOT illeagal to have copies of stuff you OWN in any civilised nation, and if it is over there, they should move.

    They also offer a way to prohibit you from seeing the source. Only one problem, there's a link to the actual source in the frigging "Blocked" source, they have a javascript go out and get the code from the linked page and write it out. So I can still read the code just fine, it just takes me an extra copy and paste!

    If you are going to build a government office, which do you want to spend, $100 an hour for 2 days for a contractor who will set up a linux server and show you how to set up linux machines, or $300 for each of 200 copies of xp, plus a $150 an hour contractor to set up an insecure xp or maybe a novell sever, plus $90 * 200 for each copy of ofice, plus $god only knows * 200 for the administrative software? (this isnt all, but the rest will be shared no matter what OS)

    Now, get me one for linux that also includes a good windows emulator. But, more to the point, the problem has never been ease of use or cusomisibility, but a lack of specilized software that has hurt both mac and linux as a desktop OS. Just getting the neat wallpapers over wolnt convert many people. Still, a step in the direction of instant easy access to all data.
