It also leaks like a sieve most of the time and has all the security problems seen in C
WRONG! Memory leaks and security problems are not the fault of the language. The programmer is solely to blame. Proper freeing of memory and sane buffer management goes a long way to creating good, secure code. Sure, other languages may take care of this for you, but you can do the same in C/C++ with wrappers if you are too lazy to handle it yourself.
Actually with the new KBuild system it's not necessary to make the individual components.
Just do a:
make menuconfig (or make oldconfig if you already have a working configuration)
make
make modules_install
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage/boot
Now configure lilo/grub if necessary. If using lilo, don't for get to run it before rebooting.
When something goes wrong, Management will still want somebody to blame. It's hard to ask the autoupdate process why something didn't work as advertised. Not only are SysAdmins the ones who keep things running, they are also the ones who have to accept responsibility for when things break. Without SysAdmins, who will explain things to Management using terms they understand?
It doesn't matter if we are the single reason for it. We are a contributing factor and therefore are also to blame. Sure, there are natural contributors also, but the earth can usually compensate for their effect. There is no way for nature to compensate for the rate at which we are spewing pollution into the atmosphere.
What this planet needs is another mass extinction. Perhaps some other species will do a better job protecting and respecting their home than we do. They certainly couldn't do any worse.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
The screensaver can be configured to go to a blank screen after a predetermined amount of time. This way you don't waste precious cpu cycles after the monitor goes to sleep.
That scares me just thinking about it...
For security, it would have to overwrite the cache, not just delete it.
Unfortunately, for many people, it already has. Why bother getting an education when the system rewards you for being unable to hold a decent job.
But there is no money in letting a person die. The medical industry would want no part in that.

Either leave things alone or get rid of it completely. The money saved won't be worth the time and cost it takes to implement the changes.
The parents should be slammed for letting the their children play the game, not the game itself.
That can be said about any OS not specifically written for embedded systems. It is not a Linux problem.
Just don't take any pictures of an epileptic.
I don't know about you, but I keep my organic computer between my ears.
If we stop the whaling, doesn't that mean that Scotty will have no reason to go back in time and give us the formula for transparent aluminum?
Since we now have the aluminum, that must mean we never stopped killing the whales.
Wouldn't you rather patent something that Microsoft might want to use in the future?
Just about any Infocom game. You don't even have to sit and wait for the floppy drive anymore.

If a person is big enough to show up on a 1-meter/pixel image, I don't want to see them anyway.
I thought it was "Must Consult Someone Else"
Not to mention, execution time is 75% faster! crap.
Belt? Even worse in many ways.
Nah, many geeks have plenty of "padding" around the belt area to protect the device.
If it's anything like my dog, it's probably just sleeping.
In the words of the Almighty Douglas Adams:
Population: None.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply
because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in.
However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there
must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number
divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so

said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the
whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet

That's why I let my dogs clean my dishes for me. They do a better job than any dishwasher.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
