WRONG! Memory leaks and security problems are not the fault of the language. The programmer is solely to blame. Proper freeing of memory and sane buffer management goes a long way to creating good, secure code. Sure, other languages may take care of this for you, but you can do the same in C/C++ with wrappers if you are too lazy to handle it yourself.

Actually with the new KBuild system it's not necessary to make the individual components. Just do a: make menuconfig (or make oldconfig if you already have a working configuration) make make modules_install cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot Now configure lilo/grub if necessary. If using lilo, don't for get to run it before rebooting.

When something goes wrong, Management will still want somebody to blame. It's hard to ask the autoupdate process why something didn't work as advertised. Without SysAdmins, who will explain things to Management using terms they understand?

It doesn't matter if we are the single reason for it. We are a contributing factor and therefore are also to blame. Sure, there are natural contributors also, but the earth can usually compensate for their effect. There is no way for nature to compensate for the rate at which we are spewing pollution into the atmosphere.

What this planet needs is another mass extinction. Perhaps some other species will do a better job protecting and respecting their home than we do. They certainly couldn't do any worse.

In the words of the Almighty Douglas Adams:

    Population: None.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply
because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in.
However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there
must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number
divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so
the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be
said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the
whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet
from time to time are merely the products of a deranged
    imagination.
