QoS(Quality of Service) has been around for a while. Cable Broadband companies, like Comcast give packet priority to their own products, such as Comcast Digital Voice or network access to their own sites. But they previously let competitor products like Vonage suffer by giving it a lower package priority.
My ISP, Shaw Cable, offers users the ability to pay $10 per month to give their third party VoIP services a higher priority on the network by bumping their SIP protocol to a different QoS. While this works, Vonage @ $19.99 + Shaw's QoS @ $10.00 is already more expensive then Shaw's base Digital Phone service.
That depends on how your power is generated. In Manitoba, we're mostly hydro electric, so the only bi-product is flooding behind the damn. If your in places that use coal, oil, gas, or any other carbon fuel to generate electricity then you will have this issue. But using renewable energy such as hydro electric, geothermal, nuclear, only product heat.
Does anyone see any resemblance to V for Vendetta? I do! And when I read this article I thought of
Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
Then... I found the quote...
...His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.
You dont know how much I agree with you. It annoys me to no end when I get 'professional' business documents, memo's, faxes, etc where one or more parts of the document is Comics Sans... Any San-Serif font is fine... The rest are crap
That sounds plausable, but why not just use mail forwarding? I don't know if USPS allows forwarding overseas but Canada Post will foward your mail just about anywhere for the cost of the stamp fee and a small "administration fee"
aww thats because we value our freedom of speech and don't like to be told what to do:-) Your neighbours to the south have it worse and the USA Looks better, I mean if they could swim to Canada I bet we'd be their first choice.
I don't know about that... Up here in Canada(For those of you who don't know its that place north of you) our postal system has been doing that for years. We call it http://www.epost.ca They will put all of our bills and registered mail online for us so they dont come to our house. They'll even do pay check stubs online. The only thing they won't do is personal mail.
If its going to cost millions/billions to fix hubble we could just replace it with modern technology. Better yet, we could have a H Prize to replace hubble. Let the private sector try to launch their own. I mean, if they can launch a shuttle to space let them do other things. NASA Cant seem to do it for under a billion.
On one side they look at themselves as freedom fighers. On the other hand we see that as trouble. You could look at the Civil war as being a "terrorist" activity between the confederate states and the US Government.
However you look at it one side is always wrong and one side is always right. Your side is always right.
people eventually will become so fed up with this they will collectively begin to unplug (not necessarily a bad thing) and move on.
3Com tried this with the Audrey a few years back. I remember supporting these things working for AT&T Worldnet many years ago. People STILL couldn't figure out the simply touch screen interface, and the all of 6 buttons the ENTIRE system had on it. Up/Down, Volume Up/Down, Home/Email.
They eventually abandoned the project and recalled the product
Quote: Yagu people eventually will become so fed up with this they will collectively begin to unplug (not necessarily a bad thing) and move on.
Definately not! If all the idiots on the internet would simply unplug it would
Free up bandwidth for the rest of us
Reduce the risk of DDoS attacks on major sites
Free up tech support people to do real things other then troubleshoot spyware
Honestly, I believe you should require some sort of license before operating the internet. You need a license to drive a car because you are putting other peoples lives in your hands. You need a license to fly for the same reason.
You need a license to sell stocks and be bonded by the securities commission. You need a license to sell insurance.
Why do you need a license for all of the above? Because what those people are doing is dangerous! Not necessarily to them, but to others as well.
How is the internet any different. Its estimated that viruses, spyware. and DDoS attacks cost over Billions of dollars.. They slow VoIP systems, they slow regular phone lines, they can mess up cable TV. If messing up necessary communications tools isnt dangerous, what is!
In my junior high/high school years(7-12) We rarely got to use calculators. Even in our pre-calculus course, if we got caught using a calculator during a test, exam or inclass assignment we were as good as failed.
This wasn't decades ago, I graduated 2002.
People shouldnt rely on calculators to do simple math like fractions.
Instead of the government spending billions apon billions of dollars fighting the most illegal war in the history of this country, they could spend the money on something useful like science, research and development, rebuilding the lacking education system.
Stupid Broadcast Flag Tuner Device -> Regular VCR or DVR.
The tuner is going to tune with the broadcast flag. As long as the device your using as the "output" such as a TV, VCR, or other proper equipment, you wont have a problem.
On a second note. Will you PLEASE fix your government down there in America. The rest of us are getting annoyed with having to put up with bs crap to benefit american companies because your citizens are too lazy to make a difference.
I see your point. Maybe they need to adjust the way restraining orders are issued then. Instead of me going to the local judge and saying I want a restraining order on Person X, and getting one, the only way they should be issued is if you've first filed a criminal complaint on someone for things like harrasment, assult, abuse, Jury Protection, and witness protection from trials.
GPS has its purposes like tracking ships, planes, cars, and even criminals. Its absolutely impossible for parol officers, police, and other law enforcements to enforce things like restraining orders. Without enforcement, the victim may still be harrassed by the person who the restraint is again. At least with this option to tag them with GPS, the victim can feel at ease, and if the bad person comes anywhere near them they can feel assured someone knows about it and will take action
I never figured that out... NASA spends billions of dollars building these rovers, why couldn't they spend a few hundred "earth dollars" and put car wiper blades on them... Oooh no, the power levels are dropping... [CLICK]... 10 minutes later... looks like our power levels are back up.
Why not make it so when someone gets hit with the beam, they get a nice 9V shock, that'll teach them to get in the way of the beam, and it'd make the game more...interesting!
We already have a band used for misc wireless technology. This is the 2.4Ghz band. Cordless phones, Wifi, and why not keyless entry systems?
These signals barely interfere because of the difference in channel modulation they use. Just make another channel for keyless entry, and problem solved.
This wont fly. How can the American Government put restrictions on chips that are not even made in America? Most of the large chip companies use out-sourced factories in other countries, like China, Japan and India.
If your smart enough to reprogram you MAC, your smart enough to not get viruses in the first place.
I've been running two WinXP machines with no virus scanners for 2 years, neither of them are infected with viruses, worms, or other malicious programs.
I work in a 96,000sqft office building that has over 900 employees working at any given time. For 3 years we had beige walls, carpet, desks, chairs, and computers.
Finally, they took our suggestions and painted the walls. We got bright vibrant colors, you wouldnt believe how mood boosting having color is. We also have alot of windows.
Because everyone is sticking together in the linux community against SCO, SCO will slowly fade into the darkness. Even though my own hosting provider, EV1servers, purchased licenses for some strange reason, SCO is still bound to fall..
Now, if only people would put the same mentality towards getting rid of the Bush Administration, this country would be a better place!
