When are the slashdot editors going to replace the Gameboy picture up there in the article with a GBA or GBA SP picture? The Gameboy was a child's toy and was never really fun when I owned one back a few years ago. Even the GBA has only really been worth owning since it came with a blacklight.

Ruining the game CD? Maybe in an asthetic sense, but not physically. Who cares if you have the serial number on your CD? I have it written on my old half-life cd and I will swear to you it's never caused an install error.

Being able to prove ownership is an interesting point, but I've yet to ever need to prove I own a game. Besides, what better proof of ownership is there than a manufactured CD? Hell, anyone can print a nice professional copy of a CD insert now-a-days. I doubt the same person could stamp a professional CD.

  9. online systems for content purchases not worth it on Buying Boxed Games - Important To The Gaming Experience? · · Score: 2, Interesting

The simple reason for me is that going to my local store is infinitely more reliable, quicker and easier than actually attempting to purchase and download an online game.

There would have to be a significant cost savings for me to justify buying a game online. During the time it would take me to download the normal 1 to 2 CD game, I could go get lunch, run some errands and drop by my game store on the way home and still have it before it was finished downloading.

Not only that, but as other people here have said, you lose your hard drive, you just lost the game, unless online purchases were packaged in a way for easy CD backup. But I doubt that... too easy for pirating in their simple minds, I would think.

Yes, yes, we all know that Nintendo can't publish a game they don't own. But, my point was that Nintendo can work with the companies to get these games released for the GBA.

You would think that all Nintendo would have to do is to point to the sales figures of the already released SNES games and it would be a no-brainer. Especially with the release of the SP opening up the market to include the 30ish crowd who wouldn't be seen dead with one of the original GBA devices.

As far as Street Fighter II being released, you are correct and I found info about it and Alpha 3 over at gamespot.com.

What ass-clown is going to choose to buy the mini and get screwed on the storage for a mere $50 bucks? If you are already spending $250, what's $50 more for some real storage? Are we supposed to think it's worth it because they actually include two types of cables with it?

I wanted to punch Jobs in the face when he announced that price, and with a straight face too. Nothing but legions of goose-steppers in that auditorium, clapping for that sort of ram-it-up-your-arse announcement.

And what kind of game developer-grade crack do you smoke to think putting random barrels full of lewtz along the street for any urchin to come take for their own is a legitimate game design?

It's just not the revolution that everyone hyped it would be. And for God's sake, why the hell does it take two expansions to fix the camera angle? About 95% of the community ranted and bitched and moaned and begged and offered human sacrifices just to get the bastards still left at the sinking ship that was Bioware at the time to fix the camera angle. I know because I was one of those sheep being led around by the crack dev team at Bioware.

Thank god for KOTR, Bioware was shaping up to be one hell of a crap game company. Black Isle has even degenerated into a group of nar-do-wells. Lionheart was an abysmal failure and they don't even care to continue doing what they at least can pull off well: D&D licensed games.
