I'll give the mods that the parent is insightful, but I also don't think it's applicable in this case.
Fortune blew 15k on a lark to write a cute article. No one said anything about long-term benefits, usage, or comprehension. I'd say they accomplished exactly what they set out to do- give a couple of guys a wad of money, let them spend it on toys, and see what happened. Simple as that.
Well, one thing I didn't see mentioned is how the gross weight of a vehicle would affect the toll paid. One would think that a fully loaded tank truck would cause significantly more wear and tear on the roads than after it had delivered its load, and was empty on the return trip. If the black box only tracks movement, is it fair to assume that the truck will average a weight halfway between when it is empty or full?
More copies of Klez than I can count came out of Duke, and ended up in my inbox. Perhaps the Blue Devils could spend less time camping out for tickets, and more time fixing what's broke.
.... there's nothing really wrong about counting cards. Not like it's some kind of morally sickening activity. It simply gives the player a better chance to win.
Yep, same style lockout-tagout at the food processing facility I used to work at. Even though there were only two electricians on each shift, seeing 3 locks on a tag wasn't at all uncommon. The mechanics appreciated knowing that while the electricians may have been finished working on the switch boxes for the conveyors and dud detectors, their own locks were still on there to prevent a production supervisor from flipping the switch back on after seeing the electricians finish. Same goes for the production personnel that were helping to pull broken glass/jammed caps out of the lines. Saved fingers and faces more than once.
Lockout-tagout is as much about protecting the people working on the equipment as it is about saving stupid people from themselves.
Get an Airzooka. It shoots a harmless ball of air about 20-25 feet. Pretty cool for scaring cats off of TVs, blowing the co-worker's toupee off, or launching a fart at an unsuspecting party guest. Same price too - $20, including delivery by UPS ground. Color me a satisfied customer.
I hope that this sends a message to everyone in the same situation to not plead down, and to raise as much hell as possible.
Call it a simplistic view or a flame if you like, but that exhortation to fight is a lot easier to spit out if it's not your butt about to head to 20 years in the pen.
I guess that defines on how you define "news". Ask the editors here what "news for nerds" is - people seem to be complaining about the "news" and "stuff that matters" that appears on/. all of the time.
Part of this is the chip maker's fault, for running the chip too hot/fast. Likewise, part of the fault rests on the case/fan manufacturers, as the cases become increasingly smaller, dealing with cooling becomes harder, as there is less space to work in.
You left out one, teesny, weenst, ity bitty, (well, OK friggin' huge!) portion of the equation - the customer. If there's a demand for a faster chip, the manufacturer is going to make it. Your logic here is similar to blaming accidents on Ferrari for building cars that go really fast, and not the people crash that them.
Not broken.. DLing now. 13 minutes remaining, but I'm sure that'll change REAL soon.
... since the domain registration info for the blog is so readily available?
Sorry kids, it's not what you thought. Take a look.

Perhaps this would be a prime spot to have some audience participation. :-)

Professor Chaos is gonna be pissed when he hears that! ;-)
Anyone can do this.... But since it's Microsoft, it's doubleplus ungood.

Heh, metmoderation on the grandparent should be interesting :-)

and I know I'm going to get modded down into oblivion, but I'll say it anyway-
Zealots.
But one does post the more mainstream picture to appeal to white folks in a plea for freedom.

Are you mad? That'd be like reading the fucking article! ;-)
Perhaps it's a stylized liposuction device ;-)
How many of us will even care by then? Sounds like a bit of poor marketing to me.
Ask anyone shooting underwater photos why they don't want to change cards - it means more surface time, and less time actually shooting.
They'll want to get their hands on torrents.
