What metric should we use to say we've "learned a language"? At what point can you put in on your resume? Do you have to take a college course? Publish an application? Read a book?
Sometimes, the more you learn, the more you understand you are not an expert.
The trouble with the Cell processor is that there's not enough memory per processor. Each of the little processors (the "SPE" units) in the PS3 only has 256KB of RAM. That's not enough to store a frame. It's not enough to store a game level, or a significant amount of geometry. It's more like having a number of DSPs available.
In this day and age of "Soulja Boy Tell 'Em", "Lady Gaga" and "50 Cent" (as Google wrote in the link above), is there any difference between "Mark Twain" and "Authordude88"?!?! Is one less valid of a pseudonym?
How does one establish a name they are "Commonly referred to" other than by using it to establish a persona? Isn't that an activity they might do on a social networking website?!?
What about the man whose erection returns from buying the spammed product? Whether from placebo effect or actual drug, if he is able to conceive a child then aren't man-years regained for society? Just a few cases of this makes the spam man-hour positive!!!
Where in the story does it say anyone is being forced to take the vaccine!??! you are all mixing up two separate issues. This is an amazing technological breakthrough if it works! No need to chew gum or use patches if you want to quit, just get a shot and lose your will to smoke. how great is that!
If you want to talk about the government overlords mandating this, that is a whole separate discussion.
Have you tried navigating a Kindle without sight? This device was designed from the ground up with accessibility in mind. Tactile buttons that cover all the functions, menus that are spoken or can be enlarged for low vision, and features that help orient the device and take pictures of text when you can't even see.
Totally different function than just a talking newspaper.
I thought all the quick cuts, diverse cast, microsoft color palette, and canned laughter were completely natural. What a witty repartee. And no, I do not know what 'contrived' means.
Wow, you really missed out didn't you? Where did you get your stats on who is having more "protected fun"? I'm not sure your relationship between age, intelligence, and using protection will hold up.
The thing is, you are working with disolved material, not particulate matter. So it isn't like a pool filter or drain that can clog up. You don't get salt out in a solid form, so it does not clog the nanotubes. What happens is the concentration on one side increases and the other side decreases. So if only the water can flow through this filter, the water on one side just becomes more concentrated with salt. Then you keep running salt water over the concentrated side and wash away the salts (which are still in solution).
...the networks offerings have generally become quite offensive...
This is the problem, they are offensive to YOU. I haven't seen anything offensive on TV in my 26 years of watching. There is this great thing on it called a channel knob, it lets you select what content you want to watch, try and use it.
I think cable prices are way too high, but i don't see any reason a la carte pricing will be made cheaper than the current system. We have a la carte pricing for the movie channels, and they charge extremely high prices for those. Who will say that they can't charge $5 per channel?
If you want to block content, use your v-chip and parental controls. Don't try to block it from everyone else.
No, that oxygen is absorbed by the metal, that is the whole point of this energy storage solution. Oxidize the metal to form metal-oxide, release HYDROGEN for burning...but you still need more oxygen to turn this hydrogen into water.
TFA shows water being recycled in a somewhat closed system. Water is the byproduct of burning the Hydrogen, and the engine collects that water as steam and routes it back to the metal oxidizing tank. That is why they say zero emissions, there wouldn't have to be any exhaust pipe, just pump the water vapor back into the system.
There are a couple problems with this. Some water would stick to the magnesium oxide or leak out the cracks when you refuel, so you'd probably have to top off the water supply every once and a while. The other problem is where does the oxygen to burn the hydrogen come from? Unless you carried a supply of pure oxygen (unlikely) you would have to suck in air, and exhaust air. When you exhaust that air it will contain the water vapor, so that way you will quickly deplete the water supply.
It is starting to get a little offtopic, but you can't max out your 401K, you can give up to 100% of your salary.
By your logic, we shouldn't spend money on entertainment. What about living your life? What if we don't make it to retirement and never enjoyed ourseleves? There is nothing wrong with buying an HDTV or an XBOX2 if that is what you are into.
What he means to say is, NO. In this case the bone marrow was removed, altered, and re-injected into the patient. The gene alteration was not systemic, did not effect the boy's sperm progenitor cells, and will not get passed on to his offspring.
I'm not sure, but I bet this is a very rare gene and a recessive trait and if he mates with a normal individual, he will probably have normal children anyway.
Are you sure about that? I thought the difference between cold fusion and hot fusion was that hot fusion is started by a nuclear fission reaction? It doesn't have to do with the temperature of the reaction, it is just that the only way we have had of creating fusion is to use a fission bomb to compress and heat the fusable material.
So to me this sounds like a step towards cold fusion because you are using sound to compress the material, not fission. I think the 'hot' refers to radioactivity.
Are you sure about that? I bet we fire off at least $2 million a day in ammunition. We have 100,000+ soldiers over there, do you think we pay them each only $20 a day?
I think the organic heart is removed to implant the artificial heart, so coronary blood flow is non-existant! This is not about temporary bypass with an artificial heart/lung machine, this is permanent stuff, heart replacement.
Sometimes, the more you learn, the more you understand you are not an expert.
Nerd card status: Revoked.

256K of memory should be enough for anyone!!
I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

What self-respecting slashdotter is buying a Core Solo processor?

I think that is what the Nintendo Wii controller is for!

I created my first page last night to show some pictures to my friends, and there are no ads on it. Don't know about bandwidth.
Tidal energy is based on the motion of the moon, not the sun or its rays.

George Bush gave me a list of the bad internets, and I just stick to using the good internets.
Sadly, 2 billion seems like the correct figure.
