I bet those murderers and thugs in jail will love this guy...
spammer guy: b-b-but Im a marketer!
thug #1: shuddup you in my world tubby!
thug #2: whoo! fresh meat!
You just want everything dont you? back in my day we had to read manuals! and half the time they were in another language! *looks at his vcr blinking 12:00 and weeps bitterly*
Why are they including this now? I understand why you would want it for certain games like EA's sports line or FF11 but is there really such a huge market to include it?
Not to bash the whole digital convergence thing, but Ive been very happy with my "old school" non connected ps2...
First, I did not RTFA - my work firewall only allows slashdot and userfriendly (many thanks to the admin team btw)
Secondly, I can understand why others dont like the show (and one of the reasons I thought it was cancelled) it is vulgar, and sometimes downright weird... (whats with the spoken word sessions with smut on the screen? *shudder*) But, its a pretty cool talkshow - the people are so insane its awesome late at night, kinda like a normal talk show on very heavy drugs. No, Im not one of those jerry springer watching shock monkeys either, I just like my tech mixed up a bit;-)
I sadly doubt that one of my favorite techtv shows, unscrewed will be around... From what I have heard it sounds like the new network will be game heavy with a little tech thrown in to balance things out...
I wonder what Martin will do after this? He should get a public access show, as thats what unscrewed resembles now.
This seems like microsoft has sidestepped their previous antitrust issues with the patent process, Would this be considered antitrust behavior if they use those patents to hurt competition?
Im unclear if this would be considered the same thing, perhaps prior art could be used to stop blatant misuse, but it would give them an advantage...
HAL wasnt evil, he just got really paranoid because they gave him a complete set of instructions to carry out the mission in the event that the humans failed and told him to lie about it, which because he was designed to provide accurate information caused the conflict... this is explained in 2010...
On a side note, is it just me or does the computer nerd that figures this out in the movie have something for hal? that long pause and "thank you hal..." at the end was creepy.
This is not a problem as Plasma screens have a big issue with screen burn with the same graphics on the screen for en extended period of time (GTA HUD anyone?) You would have to be crazy to play games on one of these TVs...
when I was in school we were taught how to run netware (hey, it was cool at the time!) from a legit CNE.
During the first week of class, he said "this is the test server, it is separate and will not affect the rest of the network." Quickly someone asked about "hacking" it, his reply? "bring it on !" One of my classmates took him up on the offer and edited one of the nlm's from the console in hex (I still have no idea what he did to it, but he had instuctions for how to modify it)
The result ? The server crashed and refused to load anymore:( What did the teacher do ? He said "no biggie, I can install netware in my sleep" and reinstalled the server politely asking that further hex editing not be done to the server.
This is the difference between "real" teachers and wannabe promoted librarians...
Actually real basic 5.5 (www.realsoftware.com) will have support for building linux apps, this combined with their vb migration tools should prove a useful, albeit commercial solution to making linux apps for visual basic developers.
I heard about rand mcnally(sp?) doing this with their maps, they would insert a fake town name and when someone else ripped off their content to make new maps they would reproduce the fake town and get busted... nice idea though...
has anyone confirmed that the deerfield beach address is this guys home ?
I wouldnt be surprised if some local readers did something really nasty to this guy... (a can of spam through his front window comes to mind):)
what needs to be done is stopping direct smtp connections from unknown hosts -
AOL does this with their smtp gateway,
when a remote server connects, it is checked for a valid domain name and static ip (thus no dial up users!) if the server is invalid, the server accepts the mail like a normal smtp session, but does not send it...
from what I have read the card based games will be the small mapper 0 games such as baloon fight and soccer.
I really wish they would release all the first gen nintendo games (the pixalated cover games) and zelda on a cart for the GBA - I would buy one on the spot...

Ahh, that was a good twilight zone ep - too bad it was one of the 80's "color" eps, shame they never made it to dvd...
microdust you say? hmm imagine a beowulf... Rock! up yours housekeeping! Im networking!

hehe, it seemed like a good title. Ill agree the movie has some pretty bad examples of computers (bad enough to get into that recent poll...)
Im not very interested in the outcome on longhorn, will this improve kde and gnome?

I saw that in school :-P Of course, the irony is that the teacher had it on a copied vhs tape with a label written in magic marker...
(to their credit I have no idea if they had a site license or something, be it seemed really screwed up at the time)

as a followup Id like to comment that this guy is a total tool and will deserve the legal assbeating hes about to get...
so does that mean hes going to come after slashdot? I can just imagine the nasty comments that will come from this...
