After 50 years the aliens hadn't inovated at all. The craft that crashed at roswell in '47 was the same ones they used to attack earth with in the late '90s(i dont remember what year the movie came out). We have new fighters every few years, wouldn't the aliens have made some progress over 5 decades?
It says satellites, not moons, big difference. It was my understanding that jupiter, along with all of the gas giants, each had inumerable satellites, they're called rings.
In one of the superman movies Lex Luthor bought most of Arizona and was gonna disturb the Californian fault lines (nukes i think) and drop the west coast into the pacific. Then all his cheap Arizonan land would turn into pricey waterfront property.
Does anyone know if hooks are standard to (large?)squid suckers. I remember the hooks of Archetuthus Dux(sp?) being a big deal in Peter Benchly's The Beast(jaws with a squid) and i wasn't sure if those were fiction or not.
Strapping some people to a missile is a bit less complicated than dealing with genes. Biotech isn't rocket science, its a whole lot more complex. Also i'd say the average person has been affected by advances in genetics. Gene therapy is a standard treatment nowadays. Also GM foods are already making their way into many peoples daily lives, Vitamin A Rice or whatever. Anyway, its not like the average person has been affected much by the moon landing, we came, we saw, we picked up some rocks, drove around a bit, played a little golf and came back. Not to diss the moon landing or anything, its quite an acomplishment, but it was more about showing we could than making any scientific gains.
Funny, cuz the just the other day I was reading about how they had to speed up post production because of the new oscar deadline.
And finally theres a LotR topic. Still no Star Trek topic, i guess 2 movies deserves a topic more than almost a dozen movies and 4 tv shows. *ignores existance of enterpise* Ooo, look, a new Matrix topic too...
the only reason the states really doesn't like it (no matter what moral claims they state), is that it is not something they can tax.
Since when has gmbling not been taxable. Everywhere that has gambling taxes the hell out of it. Thats why nevada residents don't have to pay sales or state income tax. And even if its not a formal tax... Our Govoner(Jim Doyle Dem-WI) is negotiating a deal with the indian tribes to let them have roulette and kino and other forms of gambling(they already have slots, bingo and blackjack) and 24 hour gambling for something like $600mil total for the state(which is good cuz we've got a $4bil deficit).
Actually that homosexual affair is illegal in a lot places. Theres some big court case i was reading about hapening about the constitutionality of sodomy laws.
Olympic sized swimming pool is a mesure of volume, as in "could fill an olympic sized swimming pool...". In this case both the American (football fields) and Canadian (hockey rinks) units for area were used.
You should read the new robot novels, authorized by Asimovs estate. Caliban is an interestign read, to sum it up, a new gravitronic brain is built that doesn't have the 3 laws, after that its pretty much frankenstein with a robot. Still an interesting read and a good exploration fo the 3 laws.
I dont know what your talking about with the child molesation allegations, but Asimov did write about human/robot sexual relations in the 3rd book of his robot novels, The Robots of Dawn.
Maxis put out an expansion to Sim City 2k a while back that let you drive around the cities you built and check them out from the ground level, kinda like sim copter but lower. I think there were missions you could perform too, kinda like a tame version of GTA.
Slightly offtopic, but i heard about some guys who obtained blueprints and made a UT map of their high school. Kinda scary, but i guess its better than the real thing.
Fry: So you're telling me they broadcast commercials into people's dreams?
Leela: Of course.
Fry: But, how is that possible?
Farnsworth: It's very simple. The ad gets into your brain just like this liquid gets into this egg. [He holds up an egg and injects it with liquid. The egg explodes.] Although in reality it's not liquid, but gamma radiation.
Fry: That's awful. It's like brainwashing.
Leela: Didn't you have ads in the 20th century?
Fry: Well sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio. And in magazines. And movies. And at ball games and on buses and milk cartons and t-shirts and written on the sky. But not in dreams. No siree!
Starfleet headquarters in Frisco doesn't get nearly enough attention, all the eps where they've been there in any of the series have been pretty cool. It'd be interesting to set a show here on earth and not on a ship/station who the hell knows where.

They should change the name again to Kamino, then at least they could get Taun We. ;-)

Wouldn't this story have been more appropriately placed unter the biotech topic?(hint, check the icon)
We've already got these.

Oh, howstuffworks.com, not The Way Things Work. I was looking forward to a good explanation involving mammoths.

Untill you read that list of 3 possible uses. This scare the crap out of anyone else?

Will it run on x86 architecture, is that why there's an AMD logo?
*stands up and claps*
