More interesting than the art and song name is synchronized karaoke lyrics. Since there are already a couple of lyrics+synch extensions for MP3 (dunno if there is anything official) and it would really be nice to know what they are singing, on the fly. I think such a feature and generally even adding it to the CDRom standard would be very welcome by me and I'm sure by plenty others.
Obviously if you have the CD art, it might include scans of the lyrics pages, but some CDs don't have lyrics prints and even if they do, it's much easier to have the text just appear in the correct time.
This ofcourse will have to be in unicode to support different languages, etc etc...
I think they might make a good movie based on games like the "Jedi Knight" series. It seems to have a pretty extensive world and characters, maybe enough to make a trilogy or two!
Really tho, i'd love seeing a movie based on System Shock or Thief, being dark and generally creepy.
Speaking about game based movies, anyone got news about the upcoming FarCry movie?
This Doom you we're talking about, not quake. Doom doesn't have rocket jumping and hardly any telefragging. But we will get to see some shotgun action, followed by chaingun, rocket launcher, the classic chainsaw, the plasma gun and the obligatory BFG. And don't forget the psycho scene in case they add the berserk power-up. Since it'll be based somewhat on D3 you will probably see a SoulCube. Telefragging probably not, but chopped up and eaten by monsters is very likely.
You know you're a slashdotter when you read the topic as "2000 Electrons with Proportional Vectoral Waves" instead of "2000 Election with Proportional Electoral Votes". Not that it makes too much sense either way.
There's also isn't a RIAA to "protect" the "interests" of the artists in the US. There's a RIAA = Recording Industry Association of America to protect the interests of the Recording Industry, ie record companies. Won't someone please think about the artists?
Want even more fun? Go to data -> custom -> liquid.xml and play with the liquid attributes in the bottom. The default settings don't do the engine justice.
moreover, why double not? as in !LoggerConfig::is_nocolor()... it's much clearer to have it LoggerConfig::isColor(). Another thing: won't it work just to do os "\x1b[0;37;40m"; instead of those 2 lines? I might be wrong here, if someone can correct me.
If you look at the links, you can see they are both PhD students in the Technion institute of technology. It's actually pretty strange the coding style is like this, specifically the hard coded functions like get_enabled1 or set_red instead of variables and constants like get_enabled(unsigned num) and set_color(Logger::color col). I'm particularly surprised because I study in the same institute and faculty as they do and the programming courses we have are pretty demanding and specifically point to code reusability instead of code copying.

When Galaxies Collide

As they refered to it: "the perfect cosmic storm: galaxy clusters that collided like two high-pressure weather fronts and created hurricane-like conditions"
Compare the planetary bodies to the molecules and atoms in the air. Compared to their size, they are pretty far apart, and yet affect one another when huge clusters collide. That's how I understand it.
I can't confirm for 100%, but I can confirm there was a similar exploit for the JPEG rendering system Firefox uses, and it is patched at 1.0PR, and _maybe_ in previous versions.
A huge advantage MLDonkey has is the "satellite" system like in the old AudioGalaxy network. The server can run on one computer and can be accessed from anywhere (considering you have permissions ofcourse). Meaning that even if you are at work, college computer farms or on vacation, you can check up on your downloads.
Also, in my case, we have a home network where a router/firewall/NAT/fileserver computer is running 24/7 while the other computers are on only when used. So in this case the mldonkey server runs on the server and not forcing me to keep my own PC on in order to download.
My ears aren't really that sensitive (ok maybe they are), and I use a rather generic sound system, but I hear a _HUGE_ different between 128kbit and 320kbit (which is the standard for encoding in anime music groups).
And yes, I can hear a difference between 128kbit and 192kbit. I can't put my finger on it tho.
More important than the bitrate tho, is that encoder is good. I've already had 256kbit files sounding worse than equivelant 128kbit (from different sources).
I have some audiophile friends that notice differences between a 320kbit mp3 and an Ape or Flac file.

Marine: um, Sarge? Are you that blob on my right? I can't see you well cuz my system can't run at resolutions higher than 320x240!

Except that in Doom3, the protagonist is a simple marine while the Sarge is kinda your boss and *spoiler* later becomes evil and you need to kill him.
On its way.

Are you refering to SSO or their site?

By a techno tune you mean something like this?
Composed by Digital Droo. Here's his page about the song.
I also had that as the first thought about this article :)
Nice to see i'm not the only one.
I don't know if the game is upcoming, but if it is, i'm pretty sure it'll go on suprnova (.org ;)

Pretty damn well.
Download the tech demo from the site in the story. And check Custom Elements -> Particles.
Just in comparison, high quality DVD-R media is about $2. Yes, it's not DVD+R, and it's not dual layer, but it's quarter the price.

And according to the last preview, they used it almost to the last bit.
Blade is an MP3 encoder.
That's the wrong attitude. How about this?
"I'll install Sims2 for you, but every time you want to play it, you'll have sex with me."
