It took me 30 mins to go over make menuconfig. It was recommended to do that instead copying your 2.4 config and doing a make oldconfig. Then it took me 7 minutes to compile. I rebooted, didn't work, checked the gentoo forum I was on. Realized I left out something. Fixed, compiled again, another 7 minutes. Reboot and it worked. I didn't have to work out any issues once booted. I figured it was this simple on all distrubutions.
I second that. I had to learn Python because I was doing some massive string manipulation and comparison. Perl was spending hours on what Python took 20 minutes with. I'm sure my code could have been better, but I couldn't tweak it anymore, so I read up on Python. Had a working program in a few days. I sure spent more time on Python trying to figure out where various nested loops end.
This is an exciting thought. We've got plenty of natural organisms that could live in that kind of enviroment. If we actually put some effort into it, we could then alter what we have to possibly speed up the process. In result we could use some of the altered microbes to assist on Earth.
All this attention on Mars, but Venus has some exciting possibilities. I was fascinated by the probes that landed there. I wish we would put some effort into. I guess it's a lot more expsensive developing for such an extreme enviroment.
I would guess that the genome directs how cells should reproduce. It seems to define physical attributes, but the brain developes based on enviroment and/dev/random. Possibly retaining physical disorders, schizophrenia, depression, etc.
After reading your post more cleary, I believe you said the same thing I did. So I guess we agree.

Stop spreading FUD. I've got a Taiwan flag in mine. I'm using Gentoo and compiled source straight from KDE. If RedHat removed it like another poster said, then it sounds like you need to stop using RedHat.
I don't know why some many people are angry with your work. Sure you could have bought an LCD screen, a G4 and spent an extra $1500 or more. I see your point of view, you found an old mac about to be thrown out and thought it would make a nice case. Then bring it to LAN parties and show off to friends. You did way more work than I would ever be able to do. I think all the naysayers should keep their mouths shut or make their own case mod.
I better idea is not put unnecessary windows or doors, locked or unlocked. Although linux generally does this well, I can't speak for all distributions of linux.
Windows should do things like many linux services do. They default to listening on localhost only, a lot of little things like that could help tighten windows a little better.
You realize that lists many random scripts and a bunch of different programs. I'm sure if a list of exploits were compiled for every bit of software that runs on windows, it would be quite large. The funny thing is that a lot of the software from the site you linked runs on windows.
You are full of crap. I was able to run Win98 for 2 years without a reformat, but a game of Counter-strike would crash it no problem. No big deal press the reset button and it would be fine.
I work for Bellsouth tech support and we are not allowed to suggest spyware removal tools either, although at times I do because the user cannot surf at all and they threaten to go back to aol. Most of the time I end up recommending they contact their computer manufacturer. I guess sense most people have dells the spyware problem will only be worse.
OAKRIDGE?! Hah, I working at Client Logic their now. I live in Knoxville, TN... you happen to go to the slasdot meetup... I actually never have. I would actually love to see ur jeep. Well I am drunk now so tomorrow I'll probably regret sending this.
Marble Madness... Didn't they have this for Super NES? I spent many fun hours playing this game. Think I need to find a ROM I've completely forgotten about it.
As everyone already ragged on you, I'll add a bit, my apoligies.
I have 768MB of RAM, but I definately appreciate a non bloated piece of software. For example, I use AIM ( yea I know ). I used Trillian for a little bit which has skinning and all sorts of nifty features. I ended up switching to Miranda IM. Which is a tiny program that happens to have lots of features, mostly in the form of modules. But it's a simple non-skinable interface.
My linux machines have lots of background programs whether it be p2p software, KDE, or something else. The list of reasons go on, but that's why I love software that moves in this direction.
What you are saying is a bit trollish, but could be a misunderstanding or I'm an exception. Living in the US and I am currently seeking employment, the small company I'm with is going under and I'm at the point that I will take $9+/hr, doing anything remotely bearable. My concerns are US because that is currently the most feasible location for me, and the person that wrote this article is probably in the same position. It would be wasteful for him to worry about other countries. It really is about convenience. I in no way think the US is the greatest country in the world. I have great respect and interest to other countries.
I've got two linux boxes and and a high end windows box just for games. I dream about switching to linux and adding my Athlon 1800 to the openMosix cluster. I'm tired of Windows it has been a thorn in my side for too long.
Wow, I should have taken pictures of the PCs we serviced that were 1 floor below a fire. Not as bad as this, but I remember one in particular had a water line at the bottom of the case with ash residue. Amazingly this PC and all the others worked great, lots of cleaning though but they smelled like a bonfire no matter how clean we got them.
I would like to know more about the ozone issue with these. Is it just another paranoid reaction, like like standing to close to a microwave will give you cancer, or cell phones, etc. I've found some cheap ones desgined for small rooms that I've considered.
I cheaper alternative is the MX300. It uses the same optical technology, which BTW is superior to their dual optical. The MX300 is the traditional left or right handed shape. I find it extremely comfortable. It may be a problem with people that have very large hands.

I finally switched to firefox. all of the above functionality can be acheived through extensions on firefox.

Oh ok, I was thinking that while I typed, SNES and NES sometimes run together in my mind. It's been too long.
I guess I'll start to look for a NES rom then.

Sorry offtopic, but wanted to clear that up.

I've heard nothing but good things about the MX700, but I would actually recomend the MX300. It's definately the best mouse I have ever used.
