Ummm...no It's not a "copy protection" scheme (think about it for a second). It's a region protection scheme
Yes, there IS a regions protection scheme (Region Encoding i.e., NTSC or PALS). But, there is also a copy protection scheme (CSS). VHS tapes also have copy protection (macrovision).
Yeah, I recently recieved an e-mail from garageband.com telling me I could re-post all of my garage bands songs by just clicking on a link. But, I figure, I'm better off without a label holding me back, yeah know? I need to be a free man, making music for me, not for some guy in a suit... sitting at a computer... clicking buttons and stuff... any way...
Unlike the Sears catalog at the time, Ebay business in not a new business model. Ebay is only an auction mediator, and the rules and regs concerning auctions are set (and have been for years). The Sears catalog, when it first came out, was attempting to calm people suspictions because buying products through the mail was a new idea. It never would have caught on if Sears didn't offer an unconditional garuntee of satisfaction.
Since just about EVERY program on TV nowadays is total crap, every week is "Turn off MY TV Week". The only problem I have is talking with people at work; all they have to talk about is Survivor or who Donny Trump fired.
Since when is strapping your ass to a huge controlled explosion - to propell yourself into an airless, sub zero free fall around a planet (for any reason) SAFE?
They had huge problems with the head when they did the TV series. The build a pretty good mechanical head (for the day), but right before filming it broke down. They just didn't have the time/money to keep fixing it.
. . . does the PLOT matter in a Star Wars movie? Actors recite cheesy dialogue, things blow up, everyone's happy. The only plot point in a SW movie was the hole "you're my dad?" thing in SW:ESB.
I definitely disagree with your statement that using off the shelf PC technology would leave you lacking in quality. As compared to a multi-million dollar studio of today - Yes, most definitely. But, using a cheap thousand dollar PC and relatively good cables/connectors and intruments, you can record an album with comparable audio quality to the machines that the Beatles or the Who used to record some of the greatest music the world had seen. If you want to jack up the quality more, get a 24/96 card.
Yeah, I've been doing alot of research on this topic too. I've been downloading movies online... but just to check out the quality to see if it was an insider job.
Go ahead, make edited copies. But don't all these DVD's have copy protection on them? Therefore they would be breaking the DMCA, making them as criminal as the busiest P2P downloaders. I smell a double standard coming on.
... start playing commecials, they were for intertaining products like "Punker Punch" (which I'ver never seen in any store) or MadBalls. Ahh, MTV - down the crapper.

Not only did the rover find a liquid brine on Mars, but evidence of fossilized "pickled egg" like objects and old discarded kegger cups were found.
Cheap!? $7.99 for the average paperback, an average of $40 for a hardcover. If you read a book a week it gets to be pretty expensive.

So now computers, like humans before them, can detect currency.
I didn't have time to read your entire post, but from what I could tell, it had something to do with porn. Right on brother! I love porn, too!
... that you refer to those things in your house that allow you to see outside as "optically clear wall units", or you could get sued as well.

...your assistance is needed at the snack table!

Why has a review of RotK turned into yet another Matrix thread? Give it up, there are other movies out there, you know!
Britney ... covered in grease .... mmmmmmm ... wasn't there a web site of that, already?
if I just turn in the /. community as a whole.

That's great. I suppose I'll hold off on getting that 3.0 GHz machine I was looking at, then. How big is the hard drive gonna be?
Yes, but the space "consumation of the wedding" will be much harder!
