My first car was a 1981 AMC Spirit. 258 cid straight 6, automatic. Some time after I gave up on it and got a new car, I thought it'd be a good idea to see if the old beast still ran. I was headed to work on Route 84 in Naugatuck, Connecticut. I went to exit, but when I lifted my foot from the accelerator, the car kept hauling. If the tach still worked, I'd guess it was right at the rev limiter. Even with the mediocre front disc and rear drum brake system, I was able to get that tank down from ~70 mph to a stop by the end of the offramp.
As it turned out, the accelerator linkage broke and got stuck in the fully open position. A paperclip fixed this and got me home without blowing anything up.
Its interesting to see that in the Wilens class action suit, the judge is ordering the plaintiffs to pay DirectTV's lawyers' fees. I wonder, if any of the people who have received these letters from DirectTV were to go to court and win, would they also be awarded the same?
Good. Maybe all those kids with neon lights in their cases will have the same problem. I'm sure case modding was fun for awhile, but when every mod has to include the basic package of lights, fans, etc., it becomes too stock. Just like every '89 Civic I see with cut springs & an F1 wing.
Yes, I am grumpy when I wake up.
I fear this means 2003 will be her most agressive year yet.
I wonder where she's going next. Perhaps somewhere she'll be even less unencumbered by notions of personal morality & common sense. Maybe to be the right-hand of an aging dictator?
After being a stone cold bitch all day, does Hilary Rosen go home, cuddle with her puppies, and then make sweet sweet love all night? Maybe being aggressive isn't so bad after all....
I do that too. I lean into corners when racing, I pull up on the gamepad when jumping. I know it doesn't do anything, I'm just so into the game I'm acting it out. Immersion is fun.
Once upon a time, there existed a file.exe which would examine the headers of a given file and spit out what type of file it was: mp3, executable, mpeg, etc. This seems to have disappeared from both my computer and the net. I haven't been able to find it in any of these GNU-Win type collections. Anyone have it?
Why the hell does the subject change from "re: yeah great" to April Fools right before my eyes?!?
Anyway.....Recent hard drives have had a few bad runs. The IBM DeskStars, the Fujitsu recall. In one 24 month period, I went through 6 drives myself. I think 3 or 4 were IBM, one was a Seagate. I got bit by the Deskstar bug ferociously.

The Yes Men are so good that they've even been mistakenly hired as real business speakers. One of them pretended to be from the WTO and at the end of his speech, inflated a 3 foot golden phallus from his zip-off suit, which he called an employee motivator.

I think I read this on K5 -- corporations don't really have the right to free speech. In the trial that is frequently cited on this matter, the judge explicitly told the reporter to make sure he wrote it down this way, but somehow its been mutated over the years, lawyers being what they are. I don't know how it became legally accepted, but its entrenched now. I also don't know why it hasn't been overturned.
I couldn't have made up something this good. And when I see the advertisement on this page is for Microsoft Visual Studio.net, I have to wonder if some local hoodlum spiked my coolaid with acid.
Would your opinion on this subpoena change if it was from defense lawyers?

I heard Mitnick's prison cell was the model for Magneto's glass prison.
Conflating the two is kind of like calling a canvas-sided trailer with some rusty tanks and piping a "weapon of mass destruction."
Worked for Bush

Sounds like a pretty poor business model. They shouldn't foist responsibility for that onto the customer.
and still slashdotted. Did anyone happen to grab a mirror? Google's cache has the first two pages only.
I'm still waiting for my $500 check from Bill_G@microsoft.com for forwarding to my entire contact list an email about Microsot's new tracking system.

That's why I shred all my receipts. And eat the paper.
