D20, etc? Reember all the t3 stuff going on behind the scenes? Cheating by devs? etc a few years ago? People we soo angrrrry and then got over it. They all said they'd quit and didn't. Same thing. 2 or 3 people will quit, and everyone will continue to play on and forget. Eq2 players did it, WOW players did it. In fact the only time players actually manned up and quit was the NGE in Galaxies.
in a month, no one will be talking about EVA again until the next crisis that won't really do anything.
I wouldn't rent a long RPG or sandbox game, though.
No, but it's a fantastic way to try-before-you-buy. I am sick to death of buying $50-$60 games only to get burned on them. I'll happily pay two bucks to see if it's worth buying my own copy.
Agreed. But then again, most people who would enjoy rpgs aren't using Redbox anyway. So it's a win-win for anyone sick of $60 console games that only have 5 hours of gameplay.
And how many of those people who actually buy it, had it been unpiratable? Seriously, not every case of pirating is a lost sale. You sound like you're from 1999. Most pirates wouldn't buy it anyway.
When I was a kid, I pirated stuff I had no intention of buying (I was poor, not like I could afford it anyway).
my job forces me to use Ie7. I haven't used it at home since the early firefox days, and I use crome 1/4 of the time I'm at home. the fact i have to use it at work on our net based apps makes me rage... especially considering we just went "all windows" this spring (2011) after using a shitton of dos apps (we use SAP now, and I don't remember what we used for the last 8 years... some sort of inventory program).
so you're saying the ipad is already getting old, except for ereading? that's kind of sad, and not what i wanted to hear. I'm still considering getting one w/tax money this year.
Several of Eq2's expansions had the same problem
APB had the same problem
Age of Conan had the same problem
Warhammer had the same problem
I doubt I'll ever attempted to be in another beta, if I'm going to be ignored every damn time.
It was my understanding that the industry as a whole was avoiding any media that would allow all of Uwe Boll's movies to ever be placed on one disc. Looks like sony's betrayed us.
My company has almost 12k pcs, and almost all of them use IE6. I've yet to figure out why, since we've just last month been given MS Office 2007 or 8 (I forget, whatever gave us the "ribbon"). Well, considering also that our main corp-wide inventory (QAD) is dos based, I guess I'm not surprised.
So far everything is Fluff except for the 3 potions (Xp, Tradeskill, and Acheivement buffs, 3 tiers each). The fluff armor and stupid house pets aren't worth any concern, but the potions can open a door. The 3 tiers of pots (10%/4h $2, 25%/4h $3.50? and 50%/2h $10) are really the only way to get to cap on achievements, so it's not too hard to see it coming.
As long as it's fluff, no one should be too worried. However... it's SOE and that should worry everyone.
People expect Ford to stop working shortly after the warranty expires (if it lasts that long), they didn't expect the same from video game equipment. But I think comparing cars and video game equipment is a great idea!
as a raider in eq2 (in the last 3 expansions), Sony's not doing well because every other expansion changes 1/2 the game's rules (combat, spell resists, personal resists, mechanics, etc), and then releasing stuff months after being "promised" (our mythicals were 3 months late, several dungeons were months late, and most of the time in new areas, at least 1/3 of the mobs were broken and needed fixed/re-balanced).
The current expansion (ROK) destroyed my friend's list (I lost almost 30 people to rage quitting and general "fuck it, sony hates us" type of quitting), destroyed most of my old servers raiding guilds due to broken raid encounters and HORRIBLE itemization that made the word progression completely pointless.
Judging from the sheer amount of people quiting in this expansion, I personally see this upcoming expansion to either make or break Eq2.
A combination is exactly what they needed to do. 4 cities in 4 months? At least 3 cities in another 2 months? Crippling the game at launch and forcing people to choose either 1 or 0 is lackluster at best.
It's already been delayed. I'd pay for more content, not just "what I can get"
Going to pass on this. If I can trust them to get it done "by launch" I do not trust them to add it back in, when the first few months of launch will be their busiest.
I'm still buying Ps2 games I enjoy. It's amusing to sit here and read about the "next generation" of console trying to emulate the life spans of consoles when in fact I wish they'd just emulate the great games of the previous generation.
Games sell me consoles, not the consoles themselves.
I have to agree with you on this, but maybe for differing reasons? I buy used because I can't bring myself to pay $40+ for any game that doesn't use online tracking stats/mmorpg type of play styles. Ut3, Eq2, Battlefield2, etc I have no problems with... but single player console/pc games? Hell no. While I'm up in the air on the whole "may as well pirate it" mind set, they can't make money off of used games every time in the same setting as the cd I borrowed from a friend didn't net the riaa the cost of the album again, either. Hope that made sense.
and yet they make nothing i want. so i guess we're ok then?

"A young little application called Beluga caught the attention of Facebook, which purchased the company a Thursday" I want a Thursday too :(
Will this outbreak of sense continue south of the border?

Since they're offline, can you use/steal their v4 Ip addresses?
I guess "Tunnel monster fighting simulator" was taken
i think this is being taken out of context. I think they meant to say "Any company we buy is finished"

Wow, trolling slashdot is easier than I thought. Look at you guys rising to him.

"RT" is simply "FOX" in Russian, it was only a matter of time.

My job uses WinXp Pro, Ie6, and Office 2003. AND we use an app called QAD in a dos box. It's nice to be in a minority, So I can feel special.
Wasn't this covered in the first few minutes of "history of the world Part 1" ?
