    You shouldn't just be sit around while you are unemployed. You should always be keeping your skills polished and up-to-date. Then you will have something to tell them. It is best if you can account for all of your time while unemployed.

    have you ever tried to extract a single file from a gzip'ed tar archive? It's not possible without unpacking everything and throwing away the bits that you don't want.

    Did you use a wrist wrest with the ergonomic keyboard? Lots of laptops have a somewhat built in wrist rest (any that have a touch pad, I guess.) I think having your wrists balanced and at the level of the keys makes a big difference. It relieves a lot of the stress on your wrists.

    Anyone who is interested in what they might cost can see for themselves at Adwords for free. Just click on the 'Click to begin' button. You can set up an ad, plug in keywords, max cost per click per keyword and see what your daily cost would be. They don't ask for a credit card until the very end so you get a feel without the slightest commitment (not even a name or email address is required until the end.) It's really pretty interesting.

    The data center we use (Internap) has the same security. There are seven security points between entering the building and accessing your servers. Two require biometric hand scans.

    Google has sent our company a number of emails saying they have disabled keywords we use in our Adwords campaign because they are trademarked. At first, the company with the trademark had to complain, but now it seems like the are actively searching for trademarked keywords and disabling them.

    We had that problem too. After tweaking the SSLCipherSuite directive in http.conf (and canceling support for Netscape 4.x), we have solved most if not all of the issues.

    Since there is no way to tell scale from your photos: Isabella was 400 miles in diameter. California is 770 miles North to South and 250 miles wide at its widest. I'd put my money on Isabella.

    If they can install and configure a Linux server from scratch, they will almost certainly be capable of continuing to administer it.

    Bah, the first linux server I ever put up was sitting on the internet unprotected for over a year. I was running mail, web, dns, mysql, etc with little knowledge of what I was doing or the potential pitfalls. I got it running with no help (other than from deja news.) I was extremely lucky I did not get hacked.
