Why don't they ask themselves why is their product so weak and vulnerable, instead? How much of those vulnerabilities were exposed and fixed *because* they were exposed? It's a GOOD thing. There was a bug, people found it, tried reporting it, got told to fuck off, published it - and the bug got fixed.

With the hardware prices being so low at present - it IS a "moved" idea to build your own "CCU".

Considering that people who get the release candidates use them and report bugs so that they are fixed in next releases - yes, it is necessary to anounce every release candidate.
>Hats off to Id+Activision+SplashDamage for giving >the community such an excellent 3d FPS, for FREE!" Special thanks to fileplanet.com for hosting the linux version. And as a token of our appreciation we will slashdot the hell out of fileplanet.com. Thanks once again guys.
It's the same with any service you want to buy on the internet (or in real life, for that matter).
If you don't want to spend time looking and just type something up in google and click the first link - you will have to pay more. I wanted a domain name for example. There were plenty of people offering domains for something like $30 a month. But looking a bit harder - and i bought my domain for $8.
Same with hosting, i think. If some people do not realise the value of a dollar versus a MB of disk space and are prepared to pay OR simply don't have the time to look for alternatives and prefer to pay and forget about it - why not charge them?
Whilst i am waiting for the page to open (and by the looks of things it has been slashdotted into oblivion) it struck me that an unemployed person is a lot likelier to make up a page like this than someone with a job:)
Here is a bit of insight from a New Zealand resident. Xtra is actually an internet branch of Telecom New Zealand. Telecom NZ has been a monopoly here for a very long time, right untill a few years ago (about 4 years, approx.) a weak competition arrived in form of Clear. Weak, because Telecom owns the cabling throughout the country... Then australian Telstra came in, merged with clear and put their own cabling.
Anyway, to cut it shorter: Xtra has always been obnoxious towards their customers, since there wasn't much choice in terms of decent internet service. However nowdays if they keep on going like that - they ARE going to loose big time, cause there are other ISPs available that do not depend on Telecoms bandwidth.
I am running it too. And this is the first time i have noticed a linux distro to work "out of the box" for me (and i am running up-to-date hardware, nothing "antique"). Just minor customizations in terms of appearance and things like that. But in general - everything...just works ! Good stuff, thats exactly what Linux needs.
You are a troll, Sir.
There is nothing biological or natural in bullying a kid because he has a brithmark for example. And it shouldn't be a part of his/hers life. This kid gets driven into thinking that he/she is not normal, a freak.
America going down a shitter, Sir? Well who knows, maybe one of these kids i am talking about could have been a US President, changing everything for the better ? But no, instead he/she hung her/himself.
Jokes aside though - a very serious matter. Kids get bullied a lot as early as primary/secondary school and often it haunts them in high school as well.
I used to do volunteer work for a charitable trust that was campaigning for teenage suicide prevention. It's pretty unbeleivable how many teens end their lives because they just can't take it anymore. And don't give me this bullshit about those that pull through and "become stronger". Some maybe do, but others still receive a pretty vicious mental trauma. Who knows how will this unnecessary abuse will reflect on their adulthood ?

The above is true if chess is not YOUR game.
Those who are trully interested (i.e. at least: members of a club, chess book readers etc.) find it to be quite interesting to follow.
I loved the "Matrix reloaded" portrayal of a backdoor.
...thats a bit pricy, considering say a .com domain can be regged for $7-8.
I wonder how much will somedomain.la cost after the original hype is gone.

And sold, and bought again. Including legal leeway. Money makes the world go round (c)
...this topic will generate an enormous amount of beowulf cluster jokes.

I know its lame to reply to my own post, but i had to. $30 a year, not a month :)

Because for example in the modern world i would consider being 100% honest - an art. And i don't think this can be linked to hacking in any way.
Linux is under a microSCOpe.
Why don't you go bash your stupid head against the wall.
...goes to the artists that "missed out on income" or to RIAA ? Or is it evenly split ?

Not to my knowledge. Which doesn't prevent them, however, to be a bunch of monopolistic bastards.

9 ...then there was 9.1 then 9.2... 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 ... and then a desent OS was finally released :o)
Yes, we do. They are from playing video games for the blind. And we do know what causes blindness :)
(Well according to our grandparents, at least)
MS bashing ?:)
P.S. First post?
