Although its more due to a lack of social life than a great interest in reading i've managed to average 90 pages a day over the last three years. I even keep a spreadsheet listing the author, title, date read and the number of pages for each book. There are 241 books on the list so far.
On a sidenote I actually buy most of the books i read and recently I've been buying copies of the books I had read at the library before I got a job.
You can get the Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (ISBN#0517149257) from bn.com for $14.99. It has all the books in one (cheaply made) hardback volume for the same price as two new paperbacks.
I was adding some workstations to a login script and accidentally entered an invalid command causing the script to break. It wouldnt have been that bad except that it was the night before a large sale and nobody could figure out what was causing the registers to refuse logins until i arrived two hours after opening.
I was going to clear out the temp directory on an NT4 machine at work that was out of hard drive space... Unfortunately i ended up hitting shift-del in c:\windows instead of c:\windows\temp. On the bright side i'm in charge of repairs so i got paid for the reinstallation.
I also spent an hour once wondering why a computer was refusing to boot with a new 10k rpm 50GB SCSI drive (1999) but would work fine with it hooked up externally before i noticed the mounting brackets were shorting the motherboard when screwed into place.
I kicked a beta P4 chip across a conference room while testing it in front of management...
Worst/funniest I've seen was a customer bring in a 4 day old G4 titanium notebook with a 17" screen that he had spilled red wine in then expected me to exchange it for a new one.
The only reason i like the automatic download and installation of patches is because it means i have less customers coming to me for virus removals. I work in a retail store and average 30 virus removals a week because most of the customers have never installed a single update. I always find it funny/sad when I startup the computer and find 20 critical updates that have been downloaded but never installed because they just closed the popup window. Now if antivirus programs would just start blocking spyware programs I would be happy... I currently have to use 4 seperate programs on most computers to completely clean them.
The main difference is in the criminal case he had to be found guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. For the civil suit you just hae to believe the prosecution more than the defense.
Sounds like my passwords. I find a quote thats easy to remember then use the first letter of each word including punctuation and capitolization. I end up with 10-16 digit passwords that are nearly impossible to crack but easy to recall when entering it in.
You need to go a step further and have the sasser author sue the antivirus companites for decompiling his code. Then he can use the money to pay for his legal bills.
There are too many people as it is. We don't need ways to keep them around longer. Just take the safety labels off of everything and we can kill two birds with one stone (yes i realize its a bad pun). Not only will we get rid of many old people but the young and stupid ones as well.

The problem was he got halfway through writing Dance with Dragons before he decided that he needed a book before it and started writing Feast for Crows. As of 10/23/03 he has finished 32 chapters in 738 manuscript pages (about 500 book pages).
Just do what i did the other day while playing with a 20" iMac with Win2k Virtual PC 2004 and try running chkdsk from the emulated copy of windows. It gave me a nice blue screen then promptly killed the mac.
After going through the answers given they still have yet to list my favorite. My good old fashioned metal monstrosity that has enough support to hold two 21 inch monitors, a 40 pound computer, a pyramid of pepsi cans and it doubles as a step when i need to turn on my air conditioner. On top of all that i got it at a government surplus store for $20 about 10 years ago.
It combines the hydrogen from a tank and oxygen from the air to produce water, heat and a few extra electrons. The heat is used to evaporate the water and the free electrons are captured to make power
Can't wait till my friend the pyromaniac finds out about these things. He'll probably go down to the mall and pick up a few of the residental canisters then proceed to make his fourth of july antics look like a candle dropping in a bucket of water.
In the computer system at Fry's Electronics we have some pre-made customers, including James T. Kirk complete with address and phone number for starfleet command in San Francisco, we can use if the person doesnt want to give up their name.
According to my logs in the last 16 months i have downloaded approximately 1,285 gigabytes of data through ATTBI (no home network so its not LAN transfers) Personally I blame it all on ATT for actually having decent service in my area. 95% of the time I can sustain download rates of 180K/s. Before they capped my upload over a year ago I uploaded over 100 gigs in under 30 days.

And i thought cell phones in the movie theater were bad enough already...

How about a beowulf cluster... oh wait.

Any chance of a torrent link with a video?

This is the reason i have a fireplace in addition to central heat and air. Well, that and the fact that i like making smores.

I can't be the only one that finds it disturbing that the FBI uses AOL.

I wonder if the internet would even exist if those guys had had girlfriends during that week snowed in.
I make that in retail computer sales at 21 while going to college in my spare time. Heck, one of the women I work with makes over $50,000.

It's not late until you can see the sun in the east. And before someone asks, the old computer in your garage doesnt count.

If they impliment the language feature how long will it be until some people try using it to hold conversations.
