Wuh? thousands of projects that prove the point, and one single bug that doesn't, so reject the whole argument?
You sound like those people that don't like evolution. The concept of shallow bugs is an approximate description of how things work, not a methodology. Also, if enough people stare at the code and use it, they will find the bugs that matter.
Just as those who believe in intelligent design can't get over their misconceptions about the nature of reality and supposed evidence for divine involvement in its design, you are making the same mistake in assuming what a so-called designer's criteria would be. Who is to say that a creator couldn't have a sense of humor or that the platypus is somehow poorly designed?
disclaimer: I do not believe in a creator or intelligent design (and it's ok to be gay, and I have black friends, etc.)
Considering that you probably know very little about either wind power or coal power, what's with the bias against wind power? Do you have some sort of agenda?
Exactly what I'm saying. Your rebuttal is precisely the point I was trying to make with the matrix. Considering that it's fiction, the viewer is free to insert details that make the world consistent.
You go ahead and shut off your brain. I won't use that as an excuse to watch drivel. Not saying that Speedracer will be shit, but why don't you save yourself the effort and money, go shut off your brain and watch Veggie Tales or Baby Geniuses 2.
I think you completely miss the point of The Matrix. The issue with using human batteries is not as clearcut as it may seem at first. If you recall, the world we live in is actually a simulation, so any assumptions you might have about the laws of nature are no longer valid. In the underlying layer of reality, humans have another type of of biomorphic energy that doesn't exist in the simulated layer or in the sun. This is supported by the fact that Neo is able to use psychic energy to stop the octopus bots even outside of simulation. Also, it is not clear whether the deeper layer of reality is the final reality - it may also be a simulation.
Also, the science in movies like 2001 and Bladerunner is laughable from some peoples' perspectives. For instance the ability to create details and perspectives that didn't originally exist in photos in Bladerunner is pretty silly. You can't hold your breath and go into a vacuum without rupturing your lungs, but this is done in 2001. That may seem minor to a layman, but if you are someone in the field of space travel, it might look like space opera to you.
The point is that they are all movies - fictional reality. Unless they are a perfect procedural simulation of reality utilizing all human scientific knowledge, then they will be inaccurate in some fashion, so no need to get up in arms.
Are you so sure that he's not getting paid to post these stories? There are marketing budgets for getting your advertising out through more subtle channels like blogs (such as slashdot and digg). Just because a site is free, is it ok for the author to hoodwink those reading his site?
If this were any other item (visual art, books, songs, etc), no one would care that some shitty unreleased piece of work was found by some unknown author. Why is it any different because it's a video game?
I know you are joking but I suspect the power stored in static electricity within the atmosphere is far more than what can be easily deployed with a laser. Think of it as setting off an snow avalanche with a small explosion.
Anyone can run the google sdk on their machine. you can download it straight from google. What pisses me off is that NO YOU CAN'T. All this debate and hooha about Google's App engine and it's not even open to the public.
The grandparents theory is silly I agree, but Occam's Razor has nothing to do with human endeavors. It's about choosing between to SCIENTIFIC theories in absence of any difference in explanatory power. It's not about human behavior. Humans are quite well known to do things that are not logical or effecient or straightforward.
The concept of free will is actually relative. People other than yourself are in the objective world, which is made up of external testable deterministic processes. You on the other hand are the subjective experience of these processes. When you make a decision, you are actually deciding the fate of the universe. To an outside observer it appears deterministic; that you would have made that decision all along. But your choice actually caused the universe to cohere and take that particular path.
A major flaw in scientific models of thought is that the subjective experience of "I" and the objective observation of "you" are not differentiated, and are just treated as the singular concept of "human being". There is actually a huge difference.
It's pretty obvious here that the meaning of 3D is stereoscopic, but it can be confusing to just throw around the term 3D. It can have three meanings in this case:
1. The movie is rendered using 3 dimensional data onto a 2 dimensional plane. yes I know all pixar films have been computer generated, but the less informed might think they might actually do hand drawn cartoons.
2. The movie is rendered/filmed from two perspectives, and viewed for a stereoscopic effect
3. The image is actually projected out into 3 dimensional space. This sounds unlikely, but there are actually some 3 dimension display technologies already available that allow for viewing from from any angle.
Anyway, you get my point, let's be specific when we use the word "3D".
New and unproven business models often start out as "free" or "optional". Then when the users get somewhat used to it, the "optional" aspect seems to disappear. This is a slippery slope folks.
If it's possible, it will happen. Video games are like film - they are a medium for artist expression. While most films don't display extreme graphic violence, there are the occasional ones that do.
I know you are joking, but all this talk of man-made black holes has made me wonder - is part of SETI more than just looking for radio signals? What about specifically searching for anomalies in space that could only be artificially engineered?
I recognize that your post is in jest, but the interesting thing is that the translation you are mocking is that provided by CNN regarding the Tibet story, which is very innacurate. CNN and other American media sources have a tendency (intentional?) to make translations of those who have negative relations with the States sounds as if they are anachronistic despots or uneducated baboons. I can tell you as a speaker of Chinese that this was an unfair translation, and other media sources (including French) have much more natural sounding translations. Propaganda techniques can be quite subtle...
Did you even read my post? I quote myself:
enough people stare at the code and USE IT

This has been done several times before, on Mac and other platforms. Does anyone remember the original backdoor software for windows 10 years ago?
This just looks like a bunch of Apple marketing hype. Nothing new here folks.

Yeah, why don't we just huff lighter fluid, go plant our asses on a dirty mattress in an alley, and laugh at pieces of trash blowing by?
What is it with movies that everyone wants to an excuse to dumb down and shovel shit into their cortexes?

It's about the story right?

I think you might get his grammar if you add a comma:
one thing this OQO is not, is a mac.
Doesn't make it any less dumb of a sentence.
As others have already mentioned, books may go the way of DRM if Windows is running underneath. That is why it matters what OS the laptop is running.

Oops. Ok, I guess that's not a problem. You still can't run apps on their system. Not as big a deal though.

It's quite common for employees to have no expectation of privacy regarding corporate communication. Perhaps things should change in the US as well...
