    That would be nice. Maybe now they can pull up something relevant to what I searched for in the first place.

    Not likely, Overture (I love these guys, they are making me rich) lets you BUY the top spots without letting the user know it. Google, on the other hand only sells side bar positions. Darn those google people and their ethics (no wonder MS couldn't buy them...)

    Or have them play a 64 player Doom III deathmatch. When they ask what is so special about that, let them know that the video was rendered at the remote site, at 1600x1200, and transmitted uncompressed. Imediately kill the marketing guy Stef though, or else he will blame high ping, and then we would have to kick his ass.

    As one of those engineers...
    Reading your manual will reveal that you should replace ALL of them at the SAME time. An imbalanced load can (probably won't, but can) cause battery leakage, explosions (not likely, unless you have multiple lithium ion rechargables, and you sit on it for ten hours simultaneously shorting the whole circut, in which case you are a nutjob (for buying rechargable lithiums for a remote (unless it has an LCD screen) not for sitting on the remote (unless is does have an LCD screen).

    I like parenthesis.

    When you are cussing and swearing at your kids new christmas toy that doesn't want to work, and you need to know if its the batteries or the toy, but you are at the grandparents and have no voltmeter, they come in handy for knowing if you need to go and buy new ones.

    I find this to be amusing and all, however pretty pointless. These strips take almost a full two seconds to register a full change. Spikes in usage (good to know sometimes) will be completely missed. Plus I am willing to bet you need to recalibrate it often if your room temp changes by more than a few degrees.

    I would have RTFA, however it seemed to be down at the moment.

    The implications for this are amazing. If we had a working space elevator, getting to mars would cost next to nothing, relative to todays costs of breaking low earth orbit.

    Ha! you would hate my phone, I have no games on it per se, however...

    When a friend calls, it plays the NES Zelda theme
    When the GF calls it plays Fairy fountain song
    And best of all, when work 1 calls it rings the Zelda dungeon song, or work line 2 rings the NES super mario bowser song

    I am known in the office as the guy in the red Nintendo hoody.

    I don't think that the point is to believe in one and only one truth. I for one believe that having a smaller group (enough to be able to check on one another) transcribing the facts and verifying them is a good idea. Someone needs to have a money driven (therefore, entailing a certain level of responsibility) motive to keep things accurate and authoritative.

    I do however find wikipedia to be important, in that we have a non authoratative tool to inspire people to learn about new things.

    While I hate the devistating effects of war on people, in the end, many times it for the better. (note: I am not in favor of violence)

    Seeing as we have already done the dirty deed, lets get to cleaning the mess up.

    I propose that the slashdot, and free software community in general start lobbying IBM and the likes to fund a "grassroots" widespread Linux deploymeent effort in Iraq.

    This would lead to software being a service industry providing many jobs, instead of a more commodity based system of importing Microsoft products.

    This will put more money in the pockets of civilians than the big buisnesses over seas.

    We start a hippie commune in India, we would be self sufficient in terms of agriculture and utlities, living by LGPL (we do need to be able to make a living) ideals, religion tolerant, and we could try and land a lot of the US outsoursed contracts...

    While I am not sure if you are kidding, but I will spell it out for the noobs (hey, I was a newbie once).

    If you go to the preferences menu then click comments, you have the option of adding a Karma modifier. Or a modifier for just about any situation.

    I hear ya. I still have an excelent working $500 top loading VCR that uses an intutive remote (can you program your VCR with the TV off?)

    Also, no Macrovision, and it survived a PB&J sammich and a few crayons as well.

    Sure I can watch video on my cell, but have you ever tried looking a person up to call them in the menu?

    Radioshack.com, you mean. I have never find half the usefull stuff I need at the Brick and Mortar Radioshack. Of course I always want some obscure IC.

    Only thing I ever end up buying when looking around is the latest and greatest obsolete in a week phone. For twice as much as I should have paid, and I think my first born (not here yet) are now locked into a contract with Sata^H^H^Hprint.

    A 3rd party escrow service is a popular method, especially on very expensive items. Regardless of feedback level, I would recommend one for larger purchases.

    OK, So we are deciding that running interpreted languages on a byte-code interpreting virtual machine is a good use of a phone right?
    I need to go write a JVM in BASIC now (if it hasn't been done already) so that when I have kids, they can see what games under 6000fps look like.
