Google just came to my school, UVA, to recruit, so they're definately trying to grab up-and-coming talent. I'm just a freshman so I wasn't trying to get a job, but they had an interesting presentation as well as free stuff.
Computer Stupidities. It doesn't get updated much if at all any more but it's still hilarious.
I've participated in the beta of this game...

and I have to say that it bored me out of my mind. Be prepared to spend hours upon hours doing nothing but clicking on things over and over and over, and running for about 45 minutes to get to places. The whole game revolves around building things, and it takes a LONG time to get the necessary materials collected, grown, or made. That being said, there is a sense of satisfaction when you DO manage to build something impressive or complete a task.
And are you also forgetting CHOJIN, which gives you god mode, all weapons, and unlimited ammo? It's been years since I've played it, so I might be wrong...
TCPA/Palladium does *not* do this, dammit. You can use Linux and do whatever you want to with it. No one is forcing you to use Windows, and no one will ever force you to use Windows.
You can still use Windows because Palladium will be optional and disabled by default.
I rented the DVD and could only stand to watch 3 or 4 episodes of it; it was just so BAD, especially Zaphod's second head. Hopefully the movie version will have better special effects than the "Escape from L.A."-quality crap.
Then again, the show DID do a pretty good job of remaining faithful to the plot, at least as far as I got. Once screenwriters get their hands on books, they tend to cut the plot to shreds, a la Starship Troopers and Battlefield Earth.
First off, in that article that was mentioned, the author wrote about how it was bad for the hard drive to be left on for a long time. In my experience and from what I've read, it's better for the hard-drive to be left spinning for as long as possible. Making the hard drive spin up and down lowers the life of it.
As for overheating, I have a case with 4 fans and a heat sink. There's a power supply fan, a processor fan, and two case fans. I have a heat sink for my video card. I leave my computer on more or less 24/7/365 and have NEVER had a problem with overheating. It's running a Pentium III 1 Ghz and a Geforce 2 Ultra. Assuming you have decent cooling and you don't overclock, it's unlikely that you'll have any problems. (I haven't even ever cleaned my fans in the 1.5 years I've had this computer...)
I consider myself a "PC gamer" too and to tell you the truth I never play the half-assed DM and CTF that's tacked onto games. Single-player games are still popular and it's better that the developer spend all their time on what they want to do (single-player) and do it well as opposed to making some crappy multiplayer aspect that probably won't be good anyway. Chances are it'll be moddable a la Half-Life so there can be some GOOD multiplayer possibilities for the game coming from the consumers....
Also, by the time Doom 3 is actually RELEASED, the cost of a video card that can run it decently will be much, much cheaper.
That's why it's One-Click Purchase and not One-Click-Login-and-Find-What-You-Want-and-Purchas e.
Meant HotU (Home of the Underdogs), sorry about that.
Thanks for the suggestion. I googled the game, and apparently it's abandonware seeing as the HotR has a CD-rip of it available here for download.
I'm pretty sure they removed the CD check. Vivendi probably required it to begin with; I doubt it's Valve's fault.
HL2 and CS:S were updated last night as well; maybe they hadn't finished downloading either.

but anything that makes the RIAA complain a little less is good in my book.

Of course, the quality WILL be much better in the movie, I just had to tell how bad the show was...

not = now right? And if so, good luck to them if it'll keep them off of our backs for a little bit longer.
I've gotten that message at least once too, and I always screen my calls unless I'm expecting a call at a certain time.
That uses prison labor to make their computers? They just keep getting more and more things pinned on them...I think I'll stick with Alienware.

They have a song called "Silence is Sexy" which isn't ALL silent, but it's close enough for deaf lawyers to confuse it with 4'33"
They should run a distributed computing project on it and see how long it takes to get first place in the stats.
It's not spyware if you get KazaaLite
Here's the google mirror of that geocities site.

I know that there's some E3 girls on Gamespy's photo gallery but I don't know the URL; somewhere on http://www.gamespy.com/e32002 ?
Yeah, I agree with you...I was in the mood for a bit of trolling.. :/
I guess it was just me...
