I always thought the reason the costs were so high was the price each network charged each other to transfer txt's between networks. That's the reason they've given before.
What is amazing is it costs me less to send MMS (picture messages) to pals abroad than it does to send an SMS. Unfortunately these do not seem as reliable across various networks...
Outwith my geek friend(s) it's hard to get people to use emails on phones as they don't want to pay data tariffs.
I too have cash to spend on mp3's - Though mine is in £ sterling. Wonder if we're gonna get ripped off on the exchange rate the way we do at the apple store?
Constant switching between processor architectures? Hardly, it's not like they have changed every year or every other year. stop trolling. Changing from ppc to x86 may of been a pita for you but get over it...
Correct, installing a new motherboard is not piracy.
But if you built the original pc with an OEM version of Windows because you could get it cheaper and you then try to upgrade then tough. Though Microsoft should make this point a lot clearer.
Ah! See that bl00dy microsoft...;) (joking. the xbox 360 is a great console. I don't have one as it would suck my life away)
Sorry mate, as the review was of the 360 version perhaps i should of thought of that. Yeah you can use q & e on the pc version. Though playing cod2 and the demo of cod4 I've never used em really.
Probably why ten year olds keep shooting me in the head...
Sorry this isn't true - Not in the UK anyway. I have been on 02, t-mobile and Orange networks. ALL have locked handsets to their networks, ALL wanted money to unlock even after the contract period was up. The latest of these was Orange two nights ago who wanted £20 to unlock a k800i after 14 months on a 12 month contract.
The DaVinci boys are gonna get my money instead...
Although i don't run a Linux server my main use at home use of the internet is on Ubuntu. It's patched when Ubuntu tells me. The same as my XP install.
My knowledge of Windows security is greater than that of Linux - I wouldn't really know where to start looking on my Ubuntu install. So is my XP or Ubuntu install more secure?
In theory it's the Ubuntu install, but until I spend the time to learn more about it who knows.

The point i was trying to quickly make (I'm overrun at work for the first time and not coping... But that's another issue!) is that Using Second Life is no different from reading or watching tv going to the movies etc. It's just a different way of escaping.
These 14yr olds must have better faith in their soldering skills than I do. No way am i going anywhere near my shiny new gadget with a soldering iron...
I'm wondering what the $199 will become when it get's converted to £ sterling. At the current exchange rate thats £100. I'd snap one up.
It's faster than the `old` P3/256MB 13" laptop I currently run kubuntu on.
I'm afraid tho it's gonna become £199, still a good deal, but not quite as sweet.

>>an interface that really does look pretty average
I do like kde but i'm not liking the look of the new kicker.
I have seen this on Suse 10.3 and the KDE4 live disk.
Too much mouse movement required to go back and forth between menu places.

There's nothing wrong with it...
I don't know why people spend money on books or movies - is life so bad they need to escape into an alternative reality?
Raking thru the AT&T bins was not proof reading... ;)
