Until i get a portable mp3/aac/wma/new codec player that plays ripped mix cd's *properly* i'm not interested. I want my player to show me the track title AND to seamlessly go into the next track as intended by the artist. iPods only do this by ripping the cd as a whole track... i'm told this is due to a fault in mp3's/aac. Give me a player that does this and i'm in. Don't care if it's a new format as i'm ripping cd's i own or can borrow. mind you winamp must have a plugin to play this new uber-format.
I'd be more interested in mix cd's working properly.
On i-Tunes you can link tracks so it's a flowing work that the artist/dj intended. But it's one file.
I want mix cd's to play seamlessly WITH proper track listing. At the moment you can have one or the other. Minidisc can do it, as far as i'm aware mp3/ogg/aac players can't. Does it need a new format? (obviously minidisc uses it's own) or can aac be made to work? As i'm ripping stuff i own a new format doesn't bother me - as long as someone writes a winamp/xmms plugin
My first ever experience of networked computers was on vax. Telnet`ng over JANET thru imperial college london to get on the net. Then I got an Athena account, discovered MOSAIC. Not long after this I dropped out.... *hmmm* was there a link...
I know a lot of our pc users don't have pc's or net access at home. I've been slowly trying to get our Libraries to use more freeware/open source stuff.
so far Putty (as our way of telnetting into dynix) and a.pdf writer are it.
Our IT dept are a bit wary. christ they wouldn't even support a mac!
on emule there is already a patch to beat the ca$h scanning part of cs. Dunno if it's a fake tho. It claims to be a paradox crack and they are usually spot on... apparently.

me, I do. 3p to send and recieve emails versus 10p for an sms. Ok I could buy txt bundles but i'm happier with email. Also I don't own - or intend to own a laptop. My phone can be my phone/pda in a small form factor.
I upgraded my phone to a SonyEricsson z600 for 30. Ok it ain't 3g it's gprs but thats ALL i want to carry about - ok apart from maybe the bluetooth headset/mp3 player combo... It's proper Bo I tell thee.
The daily average for WAP page impressions in November increased to 31 million from 12 million in November 2002. The cumulative total for 2003 is now 8.2 billion, beating the MDA's prediction of 8 billion impressions in 2003 as a whole.

except it's cheaper to email on a phone using gprs than it is to txt. To send and check an email longer than a txt costs me 3p - a third of the price of a txt...
>>I never e-mail family members movies (avis, thank you very much) or completely legal music ; I just bring over the iPod & transfer some stuff in about 2 minutes.
yeah and we all have to buy new players which sony are after anyway. oh and buy all our back catalogue *again* If the man in the street who is downloading mp3's doesn't care about the difference in quality between mp3 > wav then he's not gonna notice the difference between cd > sacd/dvda...
oh and by the time blue laser dvd's are commonplace the bandwith will be there domestically to share em.
Thats the price any time of day (if i remember correctly). It's a local priced number from anywhere in the UK. You could pick up an AOL disc and get 150 hrs toll free - but that requires a credit card...
Fuck You. Apples website gives the impression that the i-Pod does this. It doesn't...
Yes i am only one consumer and lots of people are happy with their i-Pods. 3 of my mates who bought i-Pods aren't. why? because of the reasons i gave.

here in the uk the cheapest I can find dual layer media is £5 a pop. Anyone else found them cheaper?
until then i'll stick with my optorite 4x single layer. I guess the media price will come down in time. *sigh*
Disco didn't start in the late 70's.
It went mainstream (and crap) in the late 70's.
No the Bee Gee's aren't disco...
Disco was black gay urban music - just like house.
Rap doesn't have it's roots in the early 80's.
Kool Herc was playing block parties in the 70's.
and some would say rap started earlier - "Jive talking" etc etc....
