A good idea, but in many rural areas people do not have WiFi networks. They are lucky to even get 28.8 speeds IF, and this is a VERY BIG IF, they even have internet access.
Trust me, my family is in rural Illinios and they don't use networks like the folk in the big cities.
They left the RIO's off completely. Kind of funny if you ask me. I have the RIO Nitrus and love it. It is 1.5Gb and small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. The batterylife is rated at 16 hours, but I usually get about 20 on mine. It is (IMHO) the perfect size. I can fit enough music on it to keep me happy during a three day trip.
One con for it is that it is not USB2.0 High Speed. So when you transfer a gig, it takes some time.
This is why I gave up on tech support with friends and family. They are to fscking stupid and the only way they will learn is from their mistakes and from the wasted time and money working with someones tech support.
WoW is a great book that had one crappy movie made out of it already. Spielberg will try to make it too feel good and ruin the tale for many people. Tom Cruise can't act, when you see I on the screen I think, look there is T.Cruise trying to be ________.
Bottom line, they will still get my money since I generally waste it on all sci-fi movies.
This is ridiculous. Just physically walk into the room they are in and ask them "What do you want for dinner?" Are people becoming so lazy and scared of others (including family) that they can only communicate via IM, cell phones, email...ect.
Trust me the small walk from room to room, will not affect your pear like body shape.
"I don't think it's morally right to say that a product is 'on sale' unless there's been a reduction in price though - at least in the UK, there must have been an immediately preceding period at which the product was priced higher for it to be marketed as at a 'sale' price..."
Umm..'on sale'...isn't all merchandise in a store 'on sale.'
I know what you mean, companies advertise products two different ways, at full price and at reduced pricing. When item is still at full price, they are just saying "Hey, you! Check out what we carry." When they have it a reduced price, they are saying "Hey, you cheapskate! Come buy this."
All Bill is doing is keeping MS in the news and in peoples mind until the next OS release (2006). Otherwise, *nix might get too much press coverage and take some minor amount of marketshare. Especially with all the releases happening, like Mandrake and the upcoming Redhat release.
Time to start a legal defense fund for this grad student!? All you crazy/.ers have to have a few dollars/pounds/euros to pitch in and help this guy out. How much does Shapiro cost per hour?
I heard previuosly that it will not be the full version of HL2 shipping with the ATI 9800XT. I heard it will be a single player only version. WTF is with that, or am I wrong?
If you check here http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/235059.asp
You will see a ship date of Nov. 14th. It has been at that ship date for a few weeks. I have learned to check what dates retailers are using as ship dates before I get too excited.
It is definately catching on. There were over a $1 billion dollars ($1.2b is the number I remember but not sure) in BT radios sold last year. However, it could be like IR and not used much even though it is very ubiquitous.
The costs of Bluetooth are coming down. It should be cheaper than 802.11b gadgets. $300 is a bit too pricey and definately not worth it. These should be sub $100.
I think some of the bigger companies (Dell and HP) are already doing this since Europe will be requiring end of life plans. However all companies should be doing this!
I also thought there was a recent article about this and how Dell is using prison labor to handle recycling in an unsafe manor.

It is not false advertising if you sell the item at the price you advertise it for.
Flase advertising is when you list an item at one price then sell it at a higher price.

Longhorn! The next DNF!
or stand 6 inches away from the microwave waiting for thier frozen dinner to cook.
Keep their kids away from wi-fi hotspots like Starbucks. Or better yet, they need to sue Starbucks too.

Civil matter...should be, however, data flows through multiple states, over transmission lines, making it a federal issue.
There is so much crapola out on the www, that you need to find trustworthy sites full of information. That is why I come to /.

I love previews of games that will be out when? Next Week? Next Month? Next Year? 2 Years?
I really can't get excited about a game that I will not be able to play until 2005.

" What's with the Bluetooth folks?"
Too much hype before there was even a working demo hindered its initial success.
"yet there's so little in the way of actual products out there. What gives?"
Go to Europe. There are tons of BT products. Many phones that have cameras also have BT in them to link wirelessly to there PC or printer.
