Obama wasn't a president at the time that photo was taken. Official [*] has nothing to do with anything...whomever WAS the OWHP then wouldn't have been photographing the President if he had been taking shots of Obama.
This only follows on the heals of the 2007 mandate out of Beijing that all cell phone chargers manuf. in/for domestic use after July 2008 would need to use the same connector. The EU didn't have much of a choice, and only gets credit for towing the line.
Reason why jobs are open in HK is that the talent has moved on. Take the hint. HK is nothing more than a theme park from now on. Don't bother doing anything more than using the airport to pass thru. And don't bother w/Singapore either. All the talented finance guys there are fighting over the remaining decent paying jobs....both of them.
> Can we get back to something wholesome and uplifting, like bashing the RIAA?
Well, there is that story about the RIAA attempting to take back a transplanted liver based on prior ARTerial scrofulousus anemia. You can flame on all you want with that one...
That would be 'dumbass, Sir!' to you... And thank Bhudda for/., where people can have a good old fashioned virtual pissing contest without mods getting in the way:)
The original quote goes back nearly three years, when it was reported that more than 80% of the MBAs in India were unemployable. The boys tend to do nothing but spend their time finding ways to copy from each other and fake their way thru higher learning, it seems. This revelation came out right around the time Apple folded up their efforts to set up shop inside India.
This isn't anecdotal. I went thru hell dealing with those jackals and I pity anyone having to do the same. I had to go thru 5,000 candidate 'engineers' just to find 100 that were anywhere near being hireable. So many of the individuals we interviewed had unverifiable work records...so many had the same answers to recruitment screening tests....it took months to wad thru the imposters and we still didn't have a solid 100 when we were done.
The EU position is one of process related to service and how a corporate entity is expected to deliver a given service based on corporate service rules, not on how an individual should be be treated within a given community.
Take the individual out of the equation and frame it again, using only a set of rules that the corporation is formally expected to follow, where said rules are, again, based on methodical process and not on harm, warmth or charity towards your neighbor Joe.
In NA, when a bridge that was built following engineering rules falls down, public disdain is usually focused on harm to anyone that was hurt, killed or inconvenienced by not being able to move from one side of the river to the other.
In the EU, the focus is on whether or not the engineering rules were followed...was the process respected and were the specifications honored.
Can you see how those are two unique points of view? Can you see the risk when those points of view are missapplied? Would the EU view be tolerated in NA? Of course not...but it works in the EU (as it always has and as localized views always do) and that's the point.
NA...stands the heck for North America. Sorry, I just made that up in order to subjugate your response....didn't mean to intimidate you.
I'm saying that your mindset dominates your judgment, which gets in the way of seeing that the EU approach, which guides their position, is different.
Clearly, then, there is not much chance of my describing the EU 'position' in such a way that it will be understood by you - again, demonstrating my point, for which I am in your debt.
> There's nothing wrong with gouging/ mistreating the consumer as long as you don't prevent another company from providing better service.
There you go...you've succinctly illustrated the NA (consumer oriented) POV, thanks - which not only blocks the ability to understand how the EU sees the situation, but underscores how anthropomorphizing the focus is strictly a localized (NA) approach.
You have to stop and take a look at this from the EU point of view.
In the US, we seek humanistic solutions to what we see as wrongs done to the individual. In the EU, they seek procedural solutions to what they see as services gone wrong.
Bracketing non-EU style commendation onto the situation is risking stereotypical generalization (and milk soaked Wheaties) - walk in their shoes a bit first, before you firebomb their reactions.
The insistence on anthropomorphizing this device on the linked site is just a bit too much....she...her... The Scarlet Knight
"This past week we got a nice dose of Scarletâ(TM)s personality when she missed a few of her call in times. During these periods of 'No Comms' or no communication we of course were worried about her but she finally called home to check in. It became evident to us that she is the independent younger sister compared to her older sister RU17. RU17 never hesitated to call us for help and share her troubles; she was a very good communicator. Scarlet however appears to be a bit more independent. She has also demonstrated her great climbing ability, which should prove useful in keeping her out of trouble when biology comes knocking."
Ya think the 'team' is loaded with women that have issues, or what?
Because as we know, there are achieved achievements; there are things we know we achieved.
We also know there are unachievable achievements; that is to say we know there are some achievements we can not achieve. But there are also unachieved achievements -- the achievements we don't know we didn't achieve.
Did you go out there and talk to the Oracle? Did the Oracle come out into the sunlight and say anything at all...any gestures, groans, wild waving of hands, rolling of eyeballs...anything?
Can we go out and talk to the Oracle in person?
Dammit man, time is running out - we must speak to the Oracle....now, not later, right now!!!!
> This story is important because it crossed the line from possible, to (evidently) actual. Which has consequences.
Oh noes! Someone did something bad and got caught with their hand in the cookie jar! You're apparently the only one that didn't see that coming!
Recession, my ass....try game exchanges, emulators and the iPhone/touch.
Eh?
Obama wasn't a president at the time that photo was taken. Official [*] has nothing to do with anything...whomever WAS the OWHP then wouldn't have been photographing the President if he had been taking shots of Obama.

Because it presents an additional revenue stream for the professors on staff that write them?

Which are all spiraling into oblivion at this time. Certainly footnotes by the time the OP finishes courses. Talk about out of the loop.
iPhone.....mobile gaming - do it - do it now.

Now, Shanghai...that's a different story.
...is to live within it.
Personally, I feel more free living as an expat in China than as a native of & in NA.
I spotted an AT&T webpage that says "$0.005/KB (approximately $5/MB) coverage rate in the set of DataConnect Global countries (on select carriers)." [ http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/affordable-world-packages.jsp ] ...as an example of their math.
$5 per mb = 1/10 of a cent per kb. (And $5k/gb)
$0.005/kb = 1/2 cent per kb.
AT&T has some serious backpedaling to do. None of this adds up...
Nod to the economy? What the hell kind of BS is that? ...oh, wait - shills galore. Got it.

You're right about emphasis, etc. It is a fine line between which dominates, however, and I didn't mean to exclude one or the other in either case.

I said from the beginning that this was just a college recruiting stunt.
The dolts associated with this program should never have been allowed near any equipment in the first place...great waste of money, once again.
