I went to Best Buy to get a new laptop for my GF.
I looked online, and considered purchasing it online and then doing in-store pickup but decided not to because I wanted to see the damn thing first.
Went to the nearest BB that had it in stock (30 miles away), and they had it for $50 more than online. I asked, they checked their in-store computers, which also showed the $50 higher price.
Luckily, this was just before Vista came out, and they had some swanky HP machine w/a touch screen there running Vista as a demo. I was able to access the web and bring up their public site with the correct price. I got the right price in the end, but what a pain!
I have a system from these guys (http://www.russound.com/index.htm) in my house. Each room has its own set of built-in speakers, with a separate volume and source control too. I serve music via my computer (in the basement), and can skip from song to song in the living room (on the first floor) with an ATI remote wonder (works through walls.) I also have my main TV audio hooked into the system as well as the DVD/CD player. When the big game is on, I can turn it up in all the rooms.
From the last sentence of the article:
"the IMP_Light texture that it was thought could have been pilfered from Doom 3 was, in fact, just a standard Impact Light texture, rather than referring to the Doom 3 monster."
Don't most CFL's contain a small amount of mercury? What are we supposed to do with them when they go bad/break/whatever? Maybe this should also come with a CFL recycling bill.
Regardless of how you feel about global warming...

Isn't reducing what we use and making things more efficient a worthy goal in and of itself?
I remember dialing from West Michigan to East Lansing, and then from East Lansing to Detroit BBSs at 300 baud through that system. Unfortunately, my modem couldn't send a modem break (whatever that was), so I couldn't download files, but calling Detroit for free was cool nonetheless.
I believe that rockbox runs in full color on models that support it. (I've been running Rockbox on my b&w Archos Recorder for 2 years now, and they added simulated gray scale to that.)
What you see and how you see it is fully configurable -- you can choose colors, backgrounds, what info shows up on the screen, the font it's displayed in, etc.
That's RDS, something that's been available for years but only recently switched on at some stations. The audio is still analog though.
HD Radio has that feature too, and can show Artist/Song/Station info and also possibly things like weather or traffic too, depending on how the station programs it.
I would think that high costs are a big problem with PC games, both high development costs (having to develop for a huge variety of hardware combinations) and high costs to play -- PCs that play the latest games at respectable levels are expensive compared to consoles.
Funny how the song "1234" by Feist that's featured in the blast of new iPod commercials is also the top of the Amazon download charts.
Apple is a company that's trying to maximize its profits? Wha????

It gets no better, friends! I wonder if Best Buy will offer rebates on songs?
Perhaps they're following Valve's lead and are introducing 'episodic' computing.
To try to watch BBC online content outside of the UK. Denied!

Why can't they just let us go on thinking that Deja Vu MEANS something profound, rather than just a brain mistake. Life is more fun that way.
will be "Big."
From one of the bazillion font download sites. Perhaps they downloaded 11001_free_fonts.zip.
Neuros has chatted with the Rockbox developers too, last fall: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/NonArch os#Upcoming_Models
So I have to install more software just to see if my computer is ready for Vista?

NPR's podcasts are underwritten. Listen to one.

Based more on BZ 1 than 2.
That's twice as powerful as my computer's PSU. Is it quiet?

Note: I own no consoles and many PC games.
