  1. Actually, GameCube is selling HUGE now. on Microsoft Buys Rare · · Score: 2, Interesting

Stores cant keep them in stock since the release of Mario .. And this is just the first of many games.. Next up is StarFox, and then Metroid, and finally ..oO ZELDA Oo.. - Their sales were never lacking in Europe, and in fact, were always ahead of the XBox there. All around the world the machine that is known as Nintendo is starting to dominate. Sonys weak online push is backfiring with shoddy games like SOCOM (terrible reviews), and the only thing keeping that boat afloat is a few key games such as Kingdom Hearts and GTA3. MS and Sony will be dumping so much money into online services that will just flop. If anyones been watching all these new online games for both systems, they're getting slammed left and right because of realtime chatting with voice its nothing but swearing, the parents dont want it, and the games you cant coordinate without keyboards and typing - The sales for the PS2 keyboard have been dull simply because people have just decided for online games, nothing beats the PC. Nintendo played it smart and saw this a mile away. thumbs up, big thumbs up.

  2. Uhh No.. Nintendo owns ALL DK trademarks. on Microsoft Buys Rare · · Score: 2, Informative
Anything related to "Donkey Kong", 3D or no, is owned 100% by Nintendo. The only way you will see Donkey Kong on an XBox is if Nintendo allows it. (Not likely)

Rare lately has been making total crap games. It was a waste of $$ for MS to even buy them.

  3. No one buys keyboards/mice for PS2, though. on PCs Losing Out as a Gaming Platform? · · Score: 1

Because then it would be too PC like, and would ruin the entire point of being a console. So everyone just sticks to playing on their PC for keyboardy games, while platformers stick to Consoles.

  4. Totally agree. on Report: Broadband Too Expensive For Many · · Score: 2, Interesting

Digital DOES offer some interesting channels like IFC, but it just isn't worth it because the extra cable box is terrible, the lag is terrible, and the picture quality is only slightly better (After the artifacting from changing the channel has gone away.). Not to mention it costs a bit more. If anything, since you need a box to use it, it should be virtually free .. Anything that has a drawback to what you currently have is bad business.

  6. Problem is with MMORPGs....Treadmills = BAD. on OSI Starts Selling Preleveled UO characters · · Score: 1

The problem ultimately is that all these games have you doing BORING ass exp and skill grinding for literally DAYS, all to get to the point to explore the really high end content with your friends. You have to wade through so much non-fun (You find me a SINGLE person who thought levelling 1-50 in EQ or any other game "fun" and i've got some nice oceanfront land for sale in Ohio for ya..) .. People want to just doodle around and kill big monsters with 30-60 of their buds.. It's more of a chat medium with the "game" as a nice incentive to have fun while you're talking. People like questing, they like gaining items.. They like working their skills up, but at the SLOW rates all these games have it's just absurd. SURE the entire point is to keep people PAYING and PLAYING, but if these companies had FUN stuff to do regardless, people would stay .. The grinding is just the suck! Games like Earth & Beyond are quickly becoming the new trend where you get exp for nearly EVERYTHING you do, and you can literally gain tons of levels in just a few casual hours of FLYING AROUND .. They have push aside the mundane treadmills and just added tons and tons of quests that are FUN and NOT repetive. They have an engaging storyline that people can follow and while you're reading it, you notice yourself levelling. It's SO QUICK. Sure, you are bound to have the minority of players who have too much free time and want to build something no one else can, and they'll complain that everyone can be just as good.. But does that really make it fun for anyone? No..

At the end of the late 80s and early 90s, phreaking became impossible, BBS's died, and basically the Internet allowed any kid to pass around massive amounts of info/games with little to no skill. It wasn't like you had to scan phone card numbers for days on end to get free calls to up that new game to that BBS on the other side of the world anymore..

  14. Strongest line-up? Two games??? WHAT? on Microsoft to Hire Xbox Hackers? · · Score: 1
Halo and DoA3 were the ONLY two games that sold well, and were even remotely worth playing (I hated them both, FYI). All those games DO use DirectX for everything. Nothing on XBox is proprietary, it's all Windows APIs. Hence, why most games are lame ports. You realise Halo was just a port from the PC version that Bungi was working on before they got bought out, correct?

GameCube had what for a line-up? Star Wars, Luigi's Mansion, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Super Monkey Ball, and Tony Hawk 3 - All 5 star games. Sure you can hate a few of those, but not all of them, they outdo the XBox line-up twice fold in anycase. The games on the GameCube now blow away anything XBox will ever see, Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, MARIO - And by the end of the year - Metroid, Star Fox, Zelda (delayed?), Final Fantasy Adventures, and more. The XBox as a console is dead in the water. Go to Best Buy and it's sharing shelf space with DREAMCAST of all things!

PS/2 had a great lineup as well, with titles like SSX.. And newer titles like FFX, GTA3, etc that keep the sales pounding.

And jesus, its a freaking POWERSUIT, who CARE if you drew your powersuit first ... Just recently they squeezed another 25% speed increase out of their drivers. You wont be seeing this anytime soon, if at all from ATI. They'll still be trying to get the latest games to work correctly on theor cards..

And you know what it comes down to? Apple. Apple has a deal to use ATI cards in their Macintoshes. They're STUCK using these crappy cards forever, and it's no wonder Carmack never disses them, he has always had a sweet spot for Apple. Why, I have no idea, but I wish he'd call it like it really is. ATI just plain SUCKS. Their drivers suck, their All-In-One-TV-OUT-DVD-Replay-Work-Your-Toaster SuperRAGEKillerXXXtreme 3D cards STINK.
