A year ago, i was in Saudi Arabia, in Mecca. I met the manager of the hotel i was staying in, and we just became friends during my stay there. I told him i was looking for an internet cafe, and i wasn't able to find one anywhere. He was aware of only one in the whole city, which surprised me as Mecca is a big city, and it was pretty far from where we were. He mentioned that the connection was really slow, and that it's really a hasle to get there, so he invited me to use the only connection the hotel has, which was from his personal machine.
He explained that they weren't able to access certain international news sites, and that everything was monitored by the government. I tried the sites he requested, and I wasn't able to connect. So i decided to Remote Desktop to my office's server here in the US. I was able to connect, and from there, i accessed all the sites he wanted. It made him pretty happy, and from then, he allowed me to come in anytime and use his machine.:)
Moral of the Story: Have a machine outside the country (at a friend's house, or business) that you can access anytime, from anywhere. You can make that machine your internet gateway, and it will allow you to access almost any info you're looking for.
I've been using Radmin for the last few years. It's a really good app, works over any bandwith connection, resolution, and all flavors of Windows. It allows File Transfer, Telnet, View only, Full Control, and Remote Shutdown or Restart. Radmin takes over the desktop, so any user sitting in front of the monitor, will see all your actions.
I use Remote Desktop on a daily basis. Remote Desktop creates a "Virtual Desktop" in memory, that only you see (Windows 2000 & 2003 version). It doesn't allow file transfer natively, unless you map a drive through your connection, or use a 3rd party software called WtsFtp. It's only available in Windows Server 2000, 2003, and Windows XP. I believe the Windows XP version allows only 1 user to be logged into the machine at a time. A Remote Desktop Connection is considered to be 1 user.
I use both those applications on a daily basis.
Remote Desktop is faster than Radmin, which is way faster than various flavors of VNC i've used over the past.
I wonder is they're claining it to be stolen just to cover the fact that it might have been sold to someone else. Those military projects from israel can't be sold to anyone unless it's approved by the US, so this one might have gone without the approval.
I did notice the slowdown.
XP took longer to boot. Some applications also took longer, like AOL, and some games.
I downloaded the patch, and everything ran faster. I'm playing C&C Generals at the moment, and the game did run a lot faster after installing the patch.
I did install the patch, and there is a major difference in speed.
Here's more information about the issue, and a link for download. Please, post mirrors.
Info & Patch
I have the same problem as the previous poster. It appears when you have a lot of people to move around.
For example: Get a lot of workers, around 15 or so, and start playing. After 20 minutes of gameplay, you will notice the lag. I have all movements animations for myself and the enemy turned off, and i still have that problem. I'm also using the PTW version.
It will get worse once you start fighting.
I think the issue comes from the system computing the ressources, and various other variables used by the game. No matter how fast your computer is, you will get to the point of lag at a certain stage of the game.
Take care...
Use flashget
It's one of the best file managers out there. It allows you to download through http without clicking on all the links, to browse the site in folders.
All you have to do it right mouse click on the page you're in, and select "Download all by flashget", and it will just do that. --
read the manual --
I did the same exact thing as you. I bout the same yamaha scsi drive, and i can't burner any faster than 8X.
I just bought a 48X TDK drive, and i love it. The best move i could have made in the CDR-W field.
Pilot, whatever you do, dont get the geforce mx cards.
I have the mx 440 and it works great on old games. Unreal Tournament 2003 also runs great on it because it was programed to run on a geforce 2.
Some of the games i bought dont allow me to have full graphicals options enabled, and the reason is because i dont have a real geforce 4 card (that's what the message the game gave me).
Give the 4200 a try.
Lucas went on to say that the proliferation of free and illegal downloading of content on the Internet could eventually lead studios to shy away from spending as much as they do on blockbuster movies since it won't be nearly as profitable for them to do so. This could also wind up having a major impact on the quality of movies since Lucas said that the success of summer popcorn movies enable studios to finance more artsy films.
After watching the last 2 Star Wars, and reading this comment, I still dont understand what He means by "artsy films"
Very good idea.
Will there be any support for proofing in other languages (french, spanish, arabic, etc...)?
What about books published in other countries. Would we be able to post those books if they're not copyrighted in the US but copyrighted in other countries? or vice versa.
Panicware Pop-Up Stopper is one of the best browsing utilities ever. I've been using for the last 10 months or so. Can't browse without it.
It will block most of the popups. you can download it and see for urself. Also try the companion version. It has a bunch of extra features in it.
Webmasters who want to have popups on their sites are getting the hang of getting around those popup stoppers utilities. i've noticed on some sites that they've started using Flash popups and Java popups. I don't know of any software that can do block those yet.
Try it: panicware.com
I had the same issue a few months ago, and the only way i was able to get it fixed, was to reinstall the OS. Good luck.
I strongly & sadly agree with your comments.
GREAT. Thanks for your answer.
Does anyone know how much bandwith does a net phone consumes during a call? I wasn't able to find that info anywhere. thanks.

Nice one.
It must have worked on me. I ended up buying the Element after getting SSX3 :)
Great car i just say.

How can you eject a floppy? Isn't it a mechanical process?
Can you please advise?
thanks.
Can you post some more info and pics? I would like to see it.
