With the major "Buying Force" spending $50,000 on cars and buying $450,000 homes, I doubt price is the overall reason to buy or not to buy Apple products.
Rather, you go with what you feel more comfortable with.
It's obvious you went the cheap route, which is fine in your case.
But the "Buying Force" knows when you want something nice, your going to pay for it.
Anyway.....it's all based on what the Market will Bare....
Just what the world needs: another techno-crutch that will absolve parents of the annoyance of actual parenting. Let's not talk to kids about the effects of loud noises on their hearing - that's too difficult.
I don't know how many kids you have, but my 2 never lead on that they are listening what I'm saying to them. They always do the opposite of what I tell them. And if we can get some help, with my wife and I working over 90 hours a week between the both of us, then so be it. Were not always going to be there to tell them what to do. These kind of things don't stop parenting, they help protect kids when parents can't protect them.
Parenting isn't all about telling them what to do, it's a lot about how kids will act when they are not around thier parents...and how they act for the rest of their lives.
You all need to stop comparing quotes from people from more then 100 years ago.
The 18 hundreds and early 19 hundreds were a completely different time.
None of the basic technologies were in place.
Everything back then was new....Like the light bulb. the phonograph, automobile, plains, plumbing, radio, and yes even computers.
God they all that the telegraph was the shit!!
Now lets move to today as see what has changed....Nothing!!
Were still driving on 4 wheels, were still flying in a plane with wings, were still taking a dump and flushing the toilet the same damm way as they did way back in the day, and were still using radio to transfer data.
Rinse wash and repeat.
So many things are still based on technology that came from that time. Sure computers are faster, do a lot more, better this better that...But they are based on the same damm thing they were back in the fifties....Input...doing something....output.
As a society were are at our peak.
I know people are very smart in this world and have a great imagination, but I just cant see anything COMPLETELY new heading our way.
I think science fiction has spoiled us, really....
But when that kid chewed gum in class and stuck it in the teachers hair, that kid ruined it for everyone....Welcome to America bud, where nothing is fair.
Even though World Of Warcraft is a hugh multiplayer game, when are we going to see instances that a single player can do?
To achieve anything in this game you need to be in a party of 5-40 players. But what about people who like to play alone. I tend to be not very outgoing, a loner type. And I find that the game forces me to do something I'm not comfortable with.
There is no surprise here people. IMHO there hasn't been any new technology in the past 50 years, for the consumer.
Sure everything is computerized, runs fast, does a crap load of things...But the basic make up is still the same.
Cars are still the same, Planes are still the same, houses are still the same...washing machines, blenders,
The basic make up of just about everything is still the same as it was for your parents or grandparents.
There nothing new here, hasn't been for awhile...
Nano looks promising, cloning looks good...But it's so far off, I won't see anything come from them in my life time.
I might not be up on all things new, but I havn't seen anything Differnet in a very long time.
What we need here is a new composites, new minerals....Something different.
As far as I know, we can not control light, like R2D2. Until that feat is completed, I don't see how holograms can be THAT cool. It would be just all smoke and mirrors...
I've yet to get these exploits to work properly using Safari....
The little javascript window pops up to quick....Before I even get to look at CitiBank.
And the other test page doesn't even work at all...
So much for EVERY browser affected!!

It will be a "Joe Blow" who comes up with the warp drive...
Back in the day, Wasn't there a hacker group called 411?? And I think they or someone wrote a book on them...I remember the eyes being blacked out on the cover....And I think they, in the end, were hired by the US...
God that was so long ago....
That would be nice for PC....But They are MAC ONLY....And Access doesn't exist on the Mac platform.
Use Virtual PC....That's gay....
And besides depending on the size of the database, access time becomes a major sticky point when it comes to access...and networking...SLOW....
I should know, I create web database systems from Access...using of course LAMP....With over 200 Fields in an Access database and having over 20,000 records they become very lethargic....
Let change the way movies/music/content is saved to a disk. Come up with some type of different kind of format, never before seen. Then only allow the CD/DVD readers to be installed in table top devices, where it can't be hookup to a computer at all. The normal Joe wouldn't be able to transfer the data over the internet.
My Wife and I, have been together for 13 years (2 years married). When she meet me, she knew I was gamer...
When you arrive at a point in your relationship, you understand what each other likes. Compliance....
She knows I like to play games after work, she likes to watch TV. So we give each other the space and enjoy the distance. Were only a few feet away from each other...I'm in the Den..She is in the living room...
When I'm playing a really cool game (Manhunt) I'll tell her to come here and watch....That's how you can include her into what your doing...
It's a 2 way street...I also put the game away and watch some TV with my wife or do something else with her....
But of course this might be over the typical/.'ers head.....
Money talks in any language....

What possibly can Nokia offer me that iTunes doesn't already provide me?
I search, I listen, I download, I jump for joy!

Who's to say Intel wont have something like this by 2007?!?!
Apple knows the Intel roadmap here.....
And I'm sure Jobs would not have switched if he didn't think it was a better deal.
It''s all about money baby!!!
For those who weren't wearing diapers then..You'll have to remember here...
Apple was the King of the home computer back in the day..Apple IIe rings a bell...
Apple molded many peoples futures...including mine...
God I remember night after night after night playing with my Apple IIe...
It's SO nice to see Apple back on the front page..
Because they DO create great computes...It just costs more...And so does my porsche!!
Thanks Apple...I love ya!!
Until the iTunes music store is wiped off the face of the earth, the IPod will remain supreme.
If you want to buy songs from the iTunes music store, you need an IPod...
Plain and simple.
Open Source will never change that.
But everything in life is at a stand still. There is.....NOTHING NEW!!!
People, our society has peaked.
But when that kid chewed gum in class and stuck it in the teachers hair, that kid ruined it for everyone....Welcome to America bud, where nothing is fair.

Plain and simple copy protection doesn't work....
We need other means...
Once again the Tungsten E is left out in the cold!!
You can see what Palm wants to push...The Zire 72...
Yeah, and we all thought the world was flat.
It's there.....
My company pays for everything....
Cell phones, pagers, Laptops, and all IT people can have DSL in their house for free....Just expense it out....That's what we do...
Thank God!!!
hmm that's interesting...You say you don't have Javascript turned on...But Slashdot uses javascript...How do you render the pages correctly??
Or do open your other browser for that??
Lame.....
My local TV station would show porn!!
Then I could put 2 of them on each wrist, and watch both wrists AND the 2 TV's....Wow that would be amazing!!!
Otherwise forget it....

I don't disagree with you...but....
Cars over time, increase with value...They go down in value, then they go up...It's called a Classic Car...
It makes no difference in what model of the car it is, it's still a classic...
Which people will pay dearly for and can win money at shows.
Can this same principle apply to computers??
If it can, there will be a market for this type of sale.
But I won't be the one buying it, I'll stick to my Mac...
