Less than $3000/year for 24/7 phone support for an production server operating system? That sounds pretty reasonable to me. But then again, RedHat Enterprise Linux is not targeted at the home user.
I saw a talk given by Arun Kumar, who is the VP of something at RedHat. He said in no uncertain terms that the RedHat 7.x, 8.x, and 9.x releases should not be used on production servers. There are intended as end-user releases. With a 6 month point release cycle, a company would have a hard time keeping up, plus it makes it insanely difficult for third parties to certify their applications.
For production servers and workstations, he said you should be using their Enterprise Linux products. Period.
If being financially successful means spending most of your waking day wrapped up in work, who needs it?
I'd rather make less money and have time to do worthy things like playing with my daughter, or reading Slashdot...
So if you have a homogeneous 802.11g network, then some war-driving schmuck pulls up to the curb in front of your house with an 802.11a card, does your network suddenly get slower?
Huh? People that share the files are just as guilty as those who download them. Whether you want to admit it or not, it is illegal to distribute the files without permission from the copyright holder, which is what you're doing when you share the files. It isn't just a crime to download them.
If you really like the music you're downloading, pay for it.
I keep reading messages from people whining that they're tired of buying a whole CD based on one good song, only to find out that the other songs on the CD are garbage.
One question: What kind of music are you listening to anyway?
Maybe if people listened to something other than Z-100 crap or the plethora of Woe-Is-Me-I-Sound-Like-Creed-I'm-So-Depressed- I-Ha te-My-Parents bands you might be happier.

I've found that Season Passes aren't very helpful *IF THE NETWORKS KEEP CANCELLING THE SHOWS YOU LIKE*
Looking at my list of season passes reads like a TV obituary... Firefly, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, The Tick, The Job.... sigh.
It can be a bear to setup, but Globecom JukeBox allows you to categorize songs independently of what the ID3 tag says, arrange your songs into genre groups, and play any one or combination of groups is a somewhat random order. You can even adjust the probabilities amongst the enabled category groups. It takes a bit of work to categorize your songs, but the whole setup is brilliant.
You can vote on songs, and skipping a song reduces it's probability of playing again. It will play the song to a sound card or stream it to an IceCast server.
It is a GPLed package that runs on Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP.
Legalities aside, I think it's a great idea. I have to wonder if the artist gets a cut of it, or does it further line Clear Channel's pockets? They could probably expand it to include concert videos, too. Perhaps they could throw in a couple Marijuana scratch-n-sniff stickers to make the experience complete.
Sure, under Canadian law it might be legal for you to download that mp3, but it is certainly illegal for the person from whom you downloaded it to have the mp3 available for download in the first place.
Regardless of how one justifies it, you cannot explicity or implicity distribute copyrighted works without express permission from the copyright holder.
There is a feature that Microsoft copied from Evolution: VFolders.

In case you weren't aware, GPS stands for "Global Positioning System". An honest mistake.
Since when is gnome.org registered with Register.com?

In other news, SCO hires Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf (AKA "Comical Ali") as VP of Public Relations.
As far as I can tell, OCS can't share contacts either, which makes it basically worthless for your sales staff. Hopefully OpenGroupware can do this.

..I just downloaded RC1 last night! Thank God for DSL...
TiVo anonymously collects my (and most other TiVo users) viewing habits. Nielsen just needs to ask.

I thought these watches were receive-only?
Why does everything today have to do with something going in or out of my ass!
