while i don't exactly think that recycling powergloves is the answer, i do feel that it's a step in the right direction we need to put more of an emphasis on a more widespread use of VR preferrably from the homebrew side, before some big corporation picks it up and patents it and we can no longer screw around with one of the coolest posibilities for computing in a long time
perhaps it was just me,
but it seemed that all of microsoft's arguments
for windoze were based on the fact that you trust microsoft more than the open-source community
i may be way off base, but i know I, for one, DON'T!!
undisclosed blocking of communication on certain ports at router-level?!?!?!
what kind of nazi plot is this?!?!?
you know hitler blocked ports at router level right?!?!?
what i've found is that with the elderly who have no knowledge of computers at all (ie: my grandma)it's just as easy, if not easier, to teach them linux in the first place for several reasons:
1. much more stable
2. more eye candy (the computer illiterate LOOOVE that eye candy...
3. basically all the elderly do on a computer is putter around on the internet, check email, and play simple games...all of these are just as easy to teach for the first time on linux as windows
4. no more of those "my computer's broken" housecalls....hehehe....remote admin is GOD!
For those of you who are saying that a terrabyte is a rediculous amount of data storage:
Forget not that a 10MB hard disk was once considered massive. Today, you couldn't hope to put most programs into that amount of space!
Not to mention those of us who have a tendency to hoarde mp3's and DivX's (myself included). Hell, my current project is a machine that spec's an even terrabyte of disk space! It would be very convenient IMHO if i could simply drop in one hard drive and have it done. (As opposed to spending hours configuring 10 100GB drives in some type of RAID)
i've seen this approach before only that time the computer's name was "HAL"
more is definately better but i'd be especially interested to see the test repeated using a radeon 9700
i'll just stick to the aforementioned PowerGlove.. :)
....the /. effect could be counted as a "complete system mod" :)

now if only sony would release a port of everquest
my life would be complete...
---yes, i KNOW it runs on directx....
yeah, i know it's a pain in the a$$ but c'mon you know you were just gonna format and repartition it anyway....
just rent them and make good divx rips of both copies....
my parents recently wired their home to use solar panels
the house itself didn't actually get converted over, however
all that was needed to allow normal function was an inverter
it converts the dc to normal line voltage
the excess power is pushed back onto the grid and due to recent legislation, they get paid for it
needless to say, the electric bill is down tremendously...
i, for one will laugh when M$/Nvidia lose the race to ATI/Linux
*crosses fingers*

thus, the reason my grandma runs linux };->
I want it to have my children, man.... :-P
it had to be done...
yeah, but it was entertaining if you were faded enough :)
also, *SPANDEX BOOBS RULE*
microsoft linux
isn't that along the same lines as
"military intelligence"???????
they still need to bring back "aeon flux" *coolest*show*ever*
thus the reason a floor ticket costs about 1/6th what a comdex ticket costs
at least last time i checked comdex tickets were $300
.....i suppose i could be wrong
Maybe it's just me, but this is gonna be the coolest game of MechWarrior EVER!!!!!
