When X crashes, it usually takes out the mouse and keyboard with it. How do you get to console to restart X except if you have a second computer handy that you can telnet/ssh in with? I have it set up that way, but probably most people are not geeks who would do that.
This was my originally point exactly! The mouse is an extension of your hand/arm. Pressing buttons on a gamepad can never replicate the experience of physically moving your arm to aim. Why was my original post modded to -1 as redundant anyway?
You would see the XBox players getting slaughtered because they are playing the game with a gamepad while computer users are using a mouse. How can you play FPS games with a gamepad anyway?!? I tried it once and it sucks ass!
Are internet connected game consoles finally starting to come into existence? Until now I haven't cared at all about console gaming because it is boring... I say unless you can play against live people on the net, console gaming is extremely repetitive and boring.
I notice people here saying that they could tell when a TV was on because of the high pitch sound as a kid... well, I can still hear it perfectly well as an adult. From my monitor as well. I know it drives me nuts but I've mostly learned to tune it out.
nedit is not even close to as good as textpad! textpad is truely a great editor... there is something that comes close and is free, called jedit from jedit.org. Try it out!
I have never been able to "get" anime. I remember when the whole craze started in the early 90's (?) and I rented a bunch of anime movies... and in my opinion they ALL SUCKED! Haven't cared to watch any more since then. Clue me in, what's the appeal?
Apparently this is what the american public wants! Doesn't really make much sense to those looking in from outside the US.

"...with any luck it will only last 2 years until the next election cycle."
We can only hope. By the time of the next elections the general American public will be so deeply brainwashed by Bush's FUD that it will be very hard to fix things. I predict the terrorists of the world now have even more of an impetus to continue attacks on the "evil" US government. I feel sorry for the Americans.
I think the host was Mitch Pileggi (the bald headed FBI chief dude from X-files). I wonder how much they had to pay him to do that show or maybe he is desparate for work?
The harddrives get mounted and icons put on the desktop for browsing them. It is true that they are mounted read-only... but you can fairly easily go the properties and set it to read-write. (re-mount it read-write)
The default is not to allow writing so that people won't accidentally screw up data on their harddrives.
I don't understand why banks need to put browser checking code in their sites? Do banks depend on client-side technology to make their site work? If so, that is pretty sad! Something as important as doing online banking should have everything handled server-side. If the only reason banks are shutting out all browsers but IE/NS is because their site has to look "pretty", then that is really stupid!
Somebody needs to bring this issue to the attention of the offending banks.
My ride consisted of a grocery store shopping cart with a rope tied to it. I drove a large metal stake into the ground at the top of a ravine and tied the other end of the rope to it. Then I would place my younger sister and her friend into the cart and push it down into the ravine. The rope would stop the cart from going all the way down into the rocks and water at the bottom... but I did not think of putting seat belts on my ride so it didn't end up working that well.

Are you calling Americans uneducated, fundamentalist, paranoid slaves to corporations? .... oh, I guess you are correct then.

System Shock 2 is another game that gives you chills when you play. This is one of my favourites for all -out fright factor.

You probably don't believe in the moon landing either, right?
But don't forget to change the title so it isn't immediately an obvious dupe... gives you time to run away.

I haven't used "regular mail" in about 2 years now. The postal service is a thing of the past.

The other day it just had a big sign up saying they would be down to replace their hard drive. Today I can't get to the site at all. Are they dead?
Actually, my mistake, it's not NULL it's NOP (NO Operator)
Are you refering to 0x90? That is just hex for NULL or something like that.
