There is such a blacklog on Auststudy form processing that if I fill out a renewal form and send it in on the day that I get it my Ausstudy will be cut off before the form even gets processed. Centrelink is an embarrisment and seeing as almost half of all tax goes into that department it is running terribly inefficient. If you do manage to get a payment out of them that seems even remotely genrous you can garrentee that you have been overpaid and will have to pay them back. I have friends who have recieved $2000 bill from Centrelink for months of overpayment.
It has often been said that if a terrorist was able to fully disable Centrelinks operation, no one would realise for at least a month.
Also let us not forget they would really be no worse off being home or being in iraq from a security viewpoing, the only differnce is that it isn't costing millions per day.
You know slightly off topic here but I've just reciently found out that I could have been buying pornography in Australia since I was 15, fat lot of good that does me now I'm 19 but it goes to show if you dont tell kids these things they will never know.
