  3. film crew hopefully better than rifftrax on MST3K is Back, Sort Of · · Score: 1

I am looking forward to the Film Crew because they are going back and doing old bad movies. The Rifftrax just didn't do it for me because they were commentaries for popular movies. I watched Matrix and X-Men with Rifftrax and while they did have funny moments since I already knew (and liked) the movies there were no surprises. I think part of the fun with the old movies in MST3K was that you never knew when someone was going to come out in a horrible monster costume and that added another level of comedy. "Remember use only genuine interocitor parts."

That said, we need to keep in mind that these are first-generation PSP titles. Just look at how the PS2 games have evolved since its launch. If handheld games are looking this good at launch, imagine what a couple years of development time will do. You can expect the same leaps, similar to those found with home based consoles, as developers become more familiar with it.

Seriously though, the guy gets his own article posted on Slashdot and it is a "nice read". More like PSP love fest. The article failed to mention all the complaints that have been reported about discs popping out, bad pixels, etc. Why didn't he just title the article "The Top Ten Ways to suck Sony Off."

I think GBA wireless gaming would be cool, but it would be even cooler if more games supported multiplayer with one game pak. There aren't very many games that my friends and I all own.

  21. Re:"Casual Gamers"? on Sega's Grand Plans, Development Changes · · Score: 2, Insightful

I'm really concerned about the combination of Sonic Team and UGA making games for "Casual Gamers". Generally the titles produced by these teams is anything but.

Rez and Space Channel 5 are ideal for casual gamers. Both only use the control pad and 2 buttons. They have the simplicity of an NES game.

When I think "Casual Gamers" innovation and creativity usually does not come to mind.

If I look at the most popular games played by my non-gamer friends there is Tony Hawk, GTA3, Super Smash Bros Melee and The Sims. I think these are all innovative and creative games. I hope more games are marketed towards casual gamers so that video gaming can become more mainstream and shake its stigma of being "adolescent boys who don't go outside."

  23. Actually on Mojib Ribbon Game Promises Musical Spam · · Score: 2, Interesting

The first Vib Ribbon game didn't use a text file. Once you loaded the game you would replace the game disc with a music cd. Then the game levels would be created based on your music. The levels would be different for every song. I don't know where this whole text file thing came from.

I'm hoping the sequel is the same way. Then you have a rhythm game that's only as good as your music collection.

  24. Did they? on Virtua Tennis Pigeons Divebomb Wimbledon · · Score: 1

Did they even go through with their last two so-called "campaigns." As far as I can tell Acclaim's marketing strategy is to come up with outlandish stunts just to get in the news. I haven't see any evidence of them following through.

Here's my idea for a marketing strategy: go to resturants and replace the straws with ones the Acclaim logo. The trick is the straws don't work. The message is "Acclaim doesn't suck!" Unfortuately, Acclaim probably can't afford the money and effort that would need to be used to make their games not suck.
