  1. Re:Adulthood calls...(Not really) on Playing Games While Not Ruining Your Relationship? · · Score: 1

Why do i continuously see the argument, which equates gaming to being "non-adult" This is just plane bullshit and denotes the proponent of such as being small minded. I am a baby boomer with a long-term (18year) marriage, avid gamer with all of my like minded buddies and have found the proper balance of gaming and "adult life". I find gaming relaxes me and puts me in the proper frame of mind to deal with the complex daily issues i'm confronted with. I'm an IT Validation Consultant, hence lots of crap being served up daily. That being said i consider myself all grown up and able to have a health R.L and be an avid gamer to boot !!.

I for one respectfully disagree with the author!! Smells of troll... but that being said all the items he lists in his article smells of a first graders use of ANY computer. IF windows is patched properly AND the sound use of an idiot-proof FREE firewall is installed and used AND a FREE antivirus program is used then windoze is no more susceptible to online hacks than any other OS. The issue is and will continue to be the mail client. Seems MS missed the boat with that one BUT... maybe its not really the clients fault for if most clueless isp admins filter out the crap BEFORE the client gets it then whats the issue?? I use Linux-BSD etc for almost everything here other than gaming but dammit windowz is Still used by most of my clients (Pharma houses) and we will just have to deal with it. MS (or someone else) NEEDS to get give the mail admins the tools to get rid of this crap before it hits the desktop.....

Needless to say after six months of unacceptable downtime on the servers- security breaches- software issues - and piss poor performance (although the stupid CFO and accountants were happy) i had sitting in my lap a very lucrative support contract. Same job - part time- twice the money. Go figure. The world is full of idiots and i'm starting to beleive they are ALL accountant types.

Its not just an IE issue either. The OS is flawed in the same manner. Read further here about half way down the page.

It?s strictly a client side issue after verification. I NEVER let the server initiate an update (only offer) unless the client fully agrees. And it needs a user with admin priv's on the client side to authorize the update. "This hasn't anything to do with 9/11, this has to do with common sense regarding computer security and network protocol design." i disagree with your comment. Having many clients, and dealing with computer security and network protocol design, is and always has been paramount. But i find that after 9/11 people are just a little bit more twitchy.!!
