  1. Fegway... on Have You Seen This Segway? · · Score: 0

Anyone who'd shell out 5,000 clams for a Segway has too much money anyway. You could get a LARK for half the price and it can go places the Segway can't. It has 4-wheels so you don't need no stinking balance-gyro, you can sit as you go, and it has a large basket to carry your groceries... or your dribble cup or diapers. If you're too damn lazy to walk, at least enjoy the ride sitting down.
I still chuckle as I recall the debut of the Segway and all the hype. The "City Fathers" scrambling to make new laws for helmets, speed limits, no riding on the sidewalk, the creation of special "Segway Lanes" akin to bike lanes. I have yet to see one in use on the street still and I'm downtown in a major U.S. city all the time for work. That p.o.s. will go down in history as the dumbest and most expensive personal use Dodo-Bird of modern times... anyone who buys a Segway and chains it up with a bike chain in the front yard deserves to have it stolen.
He probably threw it into the Puget Sound and claimed it was stolen so he could get his money back through insurance :)

Run Lola Run and The Professional are two highly action packed flicks that are great guy movies. Guaranteed to keep ypou entertained. The Professional is especially riveting. The whole movie is action packed from the get-go. It also has that special "evil genius" villain quirkiness only Gary Oldman can deliver on screen.
Both really good movies to own on DVD and keep in the archives.

We should have done this long ago. But for decades worth of diplomacy, we would have. So you'd have us believe we should keep trying and let who knows who kill who knows how many more before we finally do act?
And why shouldn't your country write the U.S. a blank check? We brought you whatever prosperity your country enjoys. Without the U.S., and this type of long overdue action, where would you all be? Be it good, bad, or indifferent, if the U.S. was such an awful place with such an awful government, why the hell do so many of you bastards come here then?
I think it's so you can take advantage of our deep rooted and historical kindness and generosity while so many of you suck Lady Liberty's tits dry. I think we should cut you all off. We should just leave you ALL to your own devices and you can kill eachother off while we bask in our success and take care of our own FIRST. You just don't get it do you? We don't want to take over the world... we want EVERYONE to prosper and be free of fear, disease and squalor. We don't smack the shit out of anyone that doesn't need it dummy.
Someone's got to do it if we are to ever have the lives all people whoever and wherever they are deserve, might as well be us cuz we're the only ones who can and are willing. Ever see the movie, It's A Mad, Mad, Mad World? The countries we bitchslap always end up richer and better than they ever were before.
It's a choice Einstein, which side do you choose? Like it or not, whatever the context or beliefs, it's tantamount to "Good vs. Evil". Governments who murder and terrorize and subvert their own people and people abroad are "evil". Governments who use the only means that work to sever the head of the snake leaving the body as intact as possible is not in the wrong, nor are they perfect. How can it be seen any other way but that? What's right is right. What's wrong is wrong. Call it Big Brother or Your Daddy, but "good" always triumphs over "evil" and we are here to see to it. Trust me, I know how fortunate me and my loved ones are to be born in the U.S. or that they made it here okay.

Lest we forget why we are even in the position to have real factual current events to cull patheticly manipulated sound and video bites from for subversion of the TRUTH, we might forget it was a horrific act of war in and on our country that made it possible. The masses of those who'd see us living in their slowly tightening grip of terrorism, and their supporters, get less than they deserve no matter what happens. He had a great life when he wasn't working and he probably would have been a millionaire within probably about 10 years.
I say probably because he was making so much money 5 years ago he was on track to NET his first million within the next 5 years. He made huge money on long distance customers and calling cards, but being it's in San Diego, he made bank on international calls to Mexico. Unfortunately, cellular phones have reduced him to making his first million... never. He still makes good money but he has had to remove probably 100 of his 500+ payphones he had up and more will come down. It's sort of like monopoly. He bought and/or leased as many viable locations as he could, put up his phones, upgraded them, now he has to sell them off. He has no trouble selling his removed payphones to various people and businesses in the U.S. and abroad, so far, but cellular phones are now the bane of his existence.
If it keeps up and keeps spreading, as we all know it will, he won't be self-employed much longer... at least not in the payphone business.

The transition was anything but smooth for the first 3 weeks but once they got all the kinks worked out, my broadband speed actually went up and I really haven't had any problems, other than untimely cable outages for various reasons.
It seems to me that the vast majority of "Broadband" IP's are just contracting with other companies who own the backbone. If you could get DSL from DirectTV where you live, I'm sure someone else can offer DSL at the same location without missing a beat. 23. NAFTA on Has the Quality of Consumer Electronics Declined? · · Score: 0

NAFTA opened the borders and the flood gates worked one way, from the USA out. All the big name brand manufacturers fled from where I live (San Diego) south of the border to Tijuana, Mexico. Particularly, Sony Corporation. They had a huge TV manufacturing plant in San Diego and moved it to Tijuana after NAFTA.
Not only did they take all those jobs to Mexico, they took American standards with them too. Soon, the American standards could not possibly be kept up by the work force available in Mexico, so they switched to Mexico's standards... and the quality of the manufacturing went south as well. I happen to know a man who is an executive at that plant. He travels from the U.S. to Mexcico everyday to work. When he crosses the border, he makes a beeline for the plant because if he straggles or takes his time, he might get kidnapped and held for ransom. He gets a company car (rental) that he switches every few days to avoid being kidnapped by his car being known. He told me that the workers there are paid about 1/4 what U.S. workers were paid. Not to mention, in order for Sony to operate in Mexico, they have to purchase a vast amount of parts & supplies from "preferred" vendors, a list of suppliers given to them by Mexican Officials (Mmm, "kickbacks" ring a bell?)... sounds like the Mafia doesn't it? It basically is.
Sony is not the only big name who fled to Mexico from San Diego after NAFTA, but the result is the same. Cheap operating costs, cheap labor, cheap parts, cheap products. It's not the whole enchilada as far as why the products suck now, but it has a definite palpable impact.
