And as for looking up a particular rule... C'mon, admit it folks - you have the rulebooks all but memorized, and just need to check whether half-ogre gets a 15% or 20% racial modifier to damage with a double-handed flail...
If we didn't have rule books to look up things, what would be the point in arguing over the rules?
Actually, it's even worse than no discount. You're actually paying a premium for the electronic version, vs. the price at Amazon. Compare $26 for the Complete Warrior PDF vs. $17 at Amazon.
I applaud your entrepreneurial spirit, but what you should have done was set up your own office supply company to sell the supplies back to your own company. Hell, you wouldn't even need to sneak into the supply closet, just send them a monthly invoice.
For non-expendable items that require a capital investment, I suggest setting up a leasing company. That's what I did with our company's Machine That Goes DING!!(tm).
Isn't it interesting how the lion's share of the cool space-related stuff is unmanned? Even more reason to kill the Shuttle program.
The budget for NASA's environmental science program has been eviscerated and several projects (including one sat that was completed and waiting for launch) have been killed so that the Shuttle program can continue. That'll show those namby-pamby hippy Global Warming types who's The Decider!
I think they just need to make it appear quite unreasonable when security asks them to leave.
And how, pray tell, is one supposed to do that? If one is on private property and one is asked to leave by the owners or their representatives, one must leave or be subject to arrest for trespass. Nothing unreasonable about that, and I don't know how you can make it seem unreasonable.
The FSF has stated that they were not engaging in civil disobedience, just a simple protest/demonstration. This was at best a weak first effort, but hopefully they've learned a bit that they can apply to the next demo (such as avoiding the shopping malls, which is really a no brainer).
For good or for ill, the RIAA has come to stand for the music cartel in many people's minds. Call it the flexibility of language or the laziness of human mind, but when someone says RIAA, I don't just think of the lobbying organization, I think of the cartel.
I commend you for fighting for precision, but in this case I think you're trying to piss into the wind.
The body works on what is basically a state of equilibria . . .
Sorry, but the body is not a closed system. It's an open and dynamic system. What you're saying is "Health Philosophy" without any basis in science. Even when you're dead, your body doesn't reach "equilibrium" until it decomposes past the point of being recognized as a discrete object. (Saying that you've reached equilibrium at that point is non-sensical.)
You're really redefining the term "self awareness". If, as you say, a robot is self aware because it "knows" its position, then certainly a rock is self aware because it "knows" its position. Does a rock have a sense of self or is it merely a physical object?
We're already getting into the metaphysical here, which seems to always rear its ugly head when a discussion of AI comes up.
Actually, there is financial sense to rotating thru gadgets. My brother-in-law, who is not a Mac head, does this with his gadgets and always has the latest and greatest. He sells a gadget every six months to a year on ebay and buys a new one, taking an average of 20% loss (guessing here). He puts about $500 into new gadgets every year, beyond what he recoups on ebay.
No, if it was Cringley, he would have predicted that Google was going to buy Nintendo, license OS X from Apple, and begin development of a mobile/distributed gaming/search device called the iWii.
No way! Timothy, Scuttle Monkey, and Samzenpus are all much worse. Compared to them, Zonk is a bright spot. (Maybe that's not saying much.) I'll agree this is a totally lame story and brings his average way down, and that you're probably right, this is an example of Nintendo fanboyism.
At any rate, I think Zonk actually puts some effort into it, so he deserves some credit. Also, when he sticks to his core competency (games) he puts up some interesting stories, especially ones that look at the culture of gaming. IMHO, of course.
Please note that he does deserve to be ripped for this particular story. Zonk, if you're reading this, you suck! =)
And then what happens? The outraged villagers kill the patent system with pitchforks and torches?
It sounds like you ran into that one guy. Which guy is that? The guy you need to show the receipt to prove that you bought a donut. (About 1:35 into the clip)
But you don't mind handling a wireless-equipped laptop that's made the same trip? =)

I still don't understand how you plan to make trespass "appear reasonable" in this circumstance, as you suggested.

Yeah! Everyone knows that Donald Knuth was going to release Dragon's LaTEX as a movie.

There was a movie based on I, Robot? Woah! I had thought that there was only a 115 minute commercial advertisement based on I, Robot.

I'm very upset that you didn't mention me, Bill Ohreally. Don't you get Fox News in whatever dingey pinko European country you live in?
Actually, this could be kind of cool with a clit piercing. Now, excuse me while I go wrap some copper wire around my cock.
I didn't see a listing for Madame Torvald's Dungeon of Spanking and Linux Training. Hmmm. Maybe it's under BSD.
Because I'm P impaired
I hope you've pre-ordered your Wii.

Shoot. They can afford to buy a Mac and a latte.

I'm still waiting for the Donner Party expansion pack.
since Sony has the hardware and penetration, and Apple has the software.
If it's got innuendo, it ain't Nintendo. [ personality="jessiejackson" ]
