Such an application may actually be relevant to organizations if they could buy the server software and host it for their employees on the network. It helps backup of important data, and the documents are always in the control of the organization. The organisation never loses the data. Thinkfree may be thinking on such lines for all you know. If they have proven technology then convincing corporations will be easier.

Poorly written indeed. What I think the author tried to mean was after the drive was formatted, Jackson installed his so called trusted softwares and found that the virus was again on it. The author needs to get his basic lessons in computers
The features seem to be pretty impressive. Now, not only do we have a two good browsers for Linux desktop, the healthy competition between FF and Konqueror will only make them richer. The ACL GUI feature is certainly a good enhancement.

I agree.. Moreover what prevents the software writers from interchanging the functionality of OK and Cancel. Like they could just put text like 'About to install the xxxxx software. If you want to quit hit OK else hit Cancel'. Most of the users hardly ever read all the text that gets shown.
politely (as they usually do) asks this guy to pull it off for using copyrighted stuff. I believe the maps Google provide are copyrighted. There is a copyright notice down there but I have not read the Terms of Use.
Virus writers go by their own rules. The anti virus business has a reactionary approach. Unless the anti virus engines have the updated signatures they can't stop the virus from spreading.
Doesn't this again bring up the question which was discussed a while ago. 'Why should Operating systems have a policy of default accept? Run programs only which you trust.' Not that this will solve the problem in one shot but it will make the problem more manageable. By the way things are going and the speed with which new viruses are created, i guess the day is not far when we will need huge databases to store the signatures for the viruses on each machine.

Let me bring to your notice the threats that are faced by India. Unlike the US/West which had the first real encounter with terrorism just a couple of years ago, India has been fighting terrorists since the last two decades. These terrorists have crossed over from the other side(I don't I need to mention fron where) and have highly advanced inventory and communication systems. The problem is real out here. The only reason the West never knew it because they didn't want to know it, for if they did, they wouldn't be able to sell the million dollar worth of arms and ammunition to the countries that support the terrorists. Al-Qaeda is very new terrorist organization compared to the Mujahideens and others who have been fighting a proxy war in India. And believe me if you want to, the terrorists use the arms and ammunition supplied from the West. They dont make it on their own. The West woke up to terrorism only after the 9/11. But I guess it was too late by then. As the Bible says, 'As you sow, you shall reap' Call it flame, paranoia, but truth always stings.
Which browser is more secure? Any vulnerablilty in IE turns out to be of the sort ' A remote attacker can gain complete control of the system'. Compare this to the flaws in Mozilla. How many bugs in Moz can take that credit?
Does it mean getting all the windows platforms starting from Windows 95 or before to work seamlessly with Vista? Or does it mean wiping anything that is not marked with Windows TM off the earth? Or does it mean CRAP?
Well actually breaking a the fingerprint authentication is not simple but its not foolproof either. One of the place I worked had fingerprinting for attendance. After it was introduced some smart chap figured how to fool it; put his fingerprint with somekind of ink on a transparent plastic strip. and the system was fooled. I don't know how the system function but if the laptops or whatever security mechanism uses only fingerprints to authenticate you, beleive me you should be wiping off every fingerprint you leave on anything, else ur fingerprint will be photographed, reproduced on somekind of sheet and your security is as good as none.
Whoa... Windows for productivity?? I, for one- may be many more out there, have never been able to be productive on a Win box what with the reboots, hangs and anti-viruses taking up all my time and processing power... Its just eye candy.. more the eye candy... more productive the marketing dept.... more sales... more duped people...
