What? You actually know which cable goes to which computer? Must be some crazy new-fangled organization scheme. Damn those avery labels! (I just temporarily ban my little siblings IP's)
Hey guys,
after some minor *hacking* you can get the RioVolt SP-250, to use the Iriver IMP250 firmware. I am pretty sure that they do not support Ogg-vorbis yet, but IMO their firmware is superior (more features etc.) If you want to know how to hack the Iriver firmware, follow the instructions below.
IMPORTANT The hack worked fine on my player, I accept absolutely no responsibility in the event that it [being the firmware hack] messes up (screws up, destroys, renders unusable... etc.) your RioVolt.
4)Save the file, and quit.
5)Rename the file from "IMP-250.hex" to "SP-250.hex"
6)Burn the file to the root of a CD, throw it in your RioVolt, and enjoy.
(MAKE SURE THE POWER DOES NOT DIE WHILE FLASHING THE FIRMWARE!) If you have any problems e-mail me (subject: SLASHDOT)
Happy Hacking!
Most mp3 CD players do this. I know from experience that all the riovolt players require you to burn the firmware file to the root of the disc, pop it in, turn it on, wait 30sec, remove the disc and go.
I remmember reading about Blinkenlights, and when I noticed that you could send an sms message to it, all that came to my head was either someone using it as a) A giant spam-board or b) a way to increase the web-counter for goatse.cx (no more... PLEASE!)
So now that it will have a higher res, all I find myself thinking is Please! no more messaging!
On a sidenote, what happens if x (insert large number) all call and try to play at the same time? Or, what happens to a system that has 78000 watts (26*20*150Watts) running through it and gets slashdotted?
It is quite possible, that it will...
a) Dent your head.
b) brake
c) if you roll a lot, the friction from the eraser just might disintegrate your hair. (well, maybe not disintegrate, but... you get the picture)
For years now, I havew been getting "Home Automation Magazine."
http://www.homeautomationmag.com/
In essence a catalog selling everything that has to do with home automation. Most of it worked off of X10. It had stuff ranging from total automation of every device, to a dog door that would open by itself whenever your dog got close (within 2 feet.) And all of this was over 3 years ago!
These souped-up machines use the fastest memory chips and arrays of high-capacity hard drives. Tiny fans and water-cooling systems rapidly dissipate heat, the nemesis of speedy computer parts. A powerful graphics card costing as much as $400 directs the on-screen action.
Or a michigan left.
(Damn lamness filter! `scuse me for trying to give y`all on slashdot an idea of what a Michingan left is!)

1) Download the IMP-250 firmware and extract it.
2) Open it up in your favorite hex editor. I used Hex Workshop.
3)Change the first 16 characters to
53502D3235300000
4)Save the file, and quit.

An ogg-vorbis firmware patch for my Riovolt SP-250
Defanitly conspiracy.
Enough is when my graphics card starts looking like one giant *Beowulf* cluster of memory and starts overheating in 5 minutes.
And just about everywhere else! Also, the article said that the sites must be blocked for worldcom's Pennsylvania customers.
beautiful, just beautiful! if you made me laugh any harder, my parents would have waken up.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dvd-burners, they are implosive and quick to anger.
Oh but it does have more info!

It seems as if anyone who had a role in developing modern day systems are dieing. Conspiracy, I sure damn hope not.
Hey! You stole my gradutaion quote.
Grrrrrrrrr......
(Yes, I do know that it was Voltaire's before it was either of ours)

Was that pun intended or unintended.
(He said the gecko's poo was hard, and you mentioned "solid evidence")
I have too much time on my hands...
Ok, I was wrong. Sorry. Not the first time that i was wrong, nor will it be the last.
And where may I ask did you check? Seriously, if the redhat distro of Linux is available for free, tell me where!

Tiny fans? Jeez... who wrote that one?
Fictional?! I fell my world slowly dissolving around me...
Does the entire city now have to read and agree to microsoft's EULA?
