We've outsourced a bit... but we never pay until the work is complete unless its a long project, in which case we pay as increments are completed and the code is sent back to us.
This could actually be good precendent...

All they need are colored glasses to filter out that particular part of the spectrum. In the same way that red light is used for reading in the darkness and not rendering you blind after, a colorized glass could filter out the green lights. Heck, we wear them in my lab when we work with the lasers. So do the people that make the laser pointers.
The worst thing you can do is to get stale on technology while pursuing education. This equates to all the people with degrees and certs but no experience that find it impossible to get a job. Had you asked *before* quitting, I would've suggested you keep working while pursuing your additional education. It would've kept you more current on technology and might've offered some financial assistance from your employer. Maybe you can beg for your job back?
Damn it... I had that idea a year ago, though my hinged one folded back a full 180 degrees. My patent is still *pending*. Sad that money can affect our patent system... I guess SanDisk just got there's approved first... kind of like M$ keeps doing. !@#$%^
What really gets me is how SanDisk can fit a USB2 capable port in there, but those idiots at OQO could only put USB1 in their first device "due to size constraints". WTF?
I think they missed something very key. The other big (in my opinion... the true #1) is the proof that SCO supposedly has and keeps promising to show the world about the Unix code in Linux. They managed to start lots of lawsuits and even gained a few licensees. However, on numerous occasions they promised to "show the proof", yet they have yet to do so. We're coming up on year three and to date, no one has seen any damning code... not even those that signed the NDA.
LaCie has had their Bigger Disk for over a year now. 1TB of storage that's exactly the size of 4 3.5'' HDs because it has 4 3.5'' HDs in it. Plus it connects externally via USB2, FW400, or FW800. And its only $1200.00 US last time I checked. So even two of these would be less than the one this article described and would yield more storage. My only complaint about these is the short warranty for a non-redundant system. The 1TB LaCie has a 1 year warranty, but its internal drives aren't striped or RAIDed. As such, if one drive fails, you're screwed. And with 4 drives, the odds of failure of at least one are pretty high. While I have 3 of these myself, I'd like to see one with a RAIDed set to allow for some internal fault tolerance.
I look for the degree and experience... not the institution that gave the degree. Of course, a CS from Berkeley would have more clout to me than one from U of Phoenix, but only because of the UNIX roots. Otherwise, a degree is a degree in that the main basics are the same.
Well, now that hobbits have been found can wizards, orcs, and elves be far behind? I just prey they don't find a frozen cave troll and decide to thaw him out...
Oh wait... I think we just overlooked the obvious... time to go retro and just pull a pair of pantyhose over your face. Or better, dress in drag and he'll think his friend is home and he won't bother calling the police as he watches you enter the house in realtime. And make sure you remove that front plate so the "driveway cam" can't see your plate.
A) before attempting to burgle a house, do some wardriving first and avoid any house with WEP. If there is no WEP and you can see the stream... and you're in the stream... run like hell!
B) after some wardriving, and assuming you still want to break into a house with a WEP protected *cough* AP, first, find the external D-marc and unplug all RJ-11 and coax cables. Of course, if you're really kewl and don't care about noise while commiting your crime, just do an "albino in Die Hard" and take a circular saw to the pipes coming out of the D-marc access panel.
He says his *friend* has an IP from a cable modem provider. His whole plan will fall apart when the IPs change. Note to self: when implementing this in the shower at work, make sure I use an IP that won't change.;)
Oh how this can add to my pron world. The place next door to me is still under construction. Perhaps I can covertly install some of these in certain areas, stream them to my house, and watch them at work. Or better... I'll buy the place, rent it a bunch of college girls, then stream it into my new site called VoyeurDorm.com.;)
With a name like "prosco"(.net) one must wonder if SCO is attempting to garnish public sympathy and if it will be possible for an unbiased jury to be found. Of course, alternatives like "scofacts.[com, net, org]" wouldn't help much either. Perhaps they should've just taken the bull by the balls and gone for "fuckgroklaw.[com,net,org]"...
I must concur. The reason I've been with Airtouch (and now Verizon) for so long has been the coverage. I have a wireless data card for my notebook too and it rocks (way better upload than my DSL). Verizon's problem isn't their coverage. Anytime my friends on other networks have no reception of dropped calls, I have perfect reception. But, being a techie geek, I want all the new toys too... and I definitely don't want a cell phone feature crippled. I'll wait and see. Supposedly all the newer Motorola Linux PDA phones should hit the US market in the next 6 to 9 months. I can only hope they don't cripple any of the features.
In defense of Verizon, I recently took the 5 hour drive from San Diego to Las Vegas. I spent three hours of the drive on my phone and 2.25 hours of that was a single call to my new girlfriend. In 2.25 hours and multiple cities and towers, the call wasn't dropped once... of course, my battery died shortly there after.
I go way back to the Airtouch days. I've been a loyal customer for close to 12 years. More recently, I've anxiously been awaiting Verizon to stock one of the upcoming Motorola Linux PDA phones. But if this is a sign of Verizon's "business model", perhaps its time to change... once my contract expires, that is.
"Consentual sex between minors harms no-one but the participants"
"Drug use does not directly harm anyone but the user"
"Driving drunk may well kill others"
BULLSHIT!!! Consentual sex between minors that leads to an unexpected pregnancy affects the family, the parents, the baby, and the kid who's probably still in school. Bullshit it only harms the participants. BULLSHIT drug use only hurts the user. My sister was killed by a guy that dropped two hits of LSD then went for a drive. The differences you state are crap and not thought out. The problem is everyone thinks they're only hurting themselves because they aren't wise enough or mature enough to see that their actions can and do affect others.
Vasectomy pain??? But they all say it doesn't hurt. At least all the women do... those guys I've talked to about so otherwise. But thank you. Now I have a nurse saying vasectomies hurt... something I'll gladly show my wife.
As for the needle breaking... it was never for an IV. Both times were for a blood sample. Both were assistants or nurse trainies. And both times the needles broke in the middle and were removed with tweezers and bandaged with gauze/cotton. The artery thingy wasn't too bad either... but it did leave a gnarly bruise about 3x3 inches wide for a few weeks. The bruise hurt more than anything else.
Well, I for one don't think that teaching people how to do illegal and/or stupid things safely helps the problem. Yet, as we see and as I mentioned... we give needles to junkies to stop the spread of disease... we give condoms to high schoolers to stop disease and pregnancy. Basically, we condone the actions that are, in fact, against the law in many areas. Drug use is a crime, not always arrestable, but at minimum ticketable, anywhere in the US. Two minors having sex is considered "statutory rape of a minor" in many areas, even if the girl or younger of the two is willing. Taken to the next level, perhaps the drivers ed. courses that all teenagers are forced to take prior to get a license in CA should include lessons on how to safely drive drunk. After all, we already have a "they're gonna do it anyway so let's teach them how to do it safely" mentality and precedent. Why not have the drivers ed. class shows kids how to focus on driving after their 2nd or 3rd beer. Or better, rather than give out condoms, why not teach them how to actually put one on so that when they're drunk off their butts, they won't screw it up (no pun intended) and end up getting their girlfriend pregnant while screwing in the back seat while the driver is trying to figure out how many headlights are coming at him...
Perhaps we could give out free virtual vein kits at drug clinics to teach addicts how to properly use a needle. After all, rather than discourage drug use, we give away free needles in many areas in an a sort of "well, they're gonna do it anyway... may as well not spread disease when they do". And in Amsterdam they have designated *usage* areas. Why not teach them how to do it right. I'm mean, after all, its kind of like driving drunk. Most people that've been driving for 10+ years can drive safely while a little buzzed cause they're driving by experience and habit. But a 16 year old after his beer or 3 doesn't have the experience and is more likely to crash. Same, same for the addicts. If they are experienced popping needles while sober, they're less likely to screw it up while under the influence
Please take this with the conservative sarcasm it was intended and not at face value before mod'ing me.
So what's next? The virtual penis and virtual vagina to teach them how to properly insert a catheter into our most precious of orifices with a bit less discomfort? One can only hope...

One is completely and totally open source. The other is not.

With 20+ of them, they can't all be secured. Just take your's back to the store and start using theirs. :)

Of course, with every version of RH 7.3, 8, 9... or FC1 or 2, I've never had to pay anyone for any number of CPU's I use.
Maybe since M$ can't lower their pride enough to lower their prices, not adding an extra fee is supposed to make them look better?
I can only wonder how Oracle is going to re-act to my 4-way, dual core RH ES 3 server... somehow I see the costs increasing...
I see two awesome goodies with this:
1) I can now fit 6 HDs in my 1U server instead of only three
2) I can finally have SCSI performance on my laptop if I can ever get one with onboard SCSI. Of course, heat is still an issue...
