That was the problem, the Concorde did not fare well. One problem with it is that early on in its career, it was determined that supersonic travel over populated land could shatter windows, upset livestock and generally annoy people. Thus limiting travel to continent to continent travel. If only it could have made a space in the New York to LA slot, London to Moscow (over land) or even LA to Montreal it could have allowed more funding to be developed into making the travel more efficient, cleaner environmentally, and lower prices. They introduced a Supersonic Limo into a world that wanted a Supersonic Bus. That being said, the Concorde is still a breathtaking aircraft to behold and 30 some odd years later still looks more modern than anything current from Boeing or Airbus. It is sad to see it gone.
Damn straight! If the majority of people are in favor of slavery, then slavery should be legal! If the majority of people are in favor of exterminating the Jews, then I say "Fire up the ovens!"
Fortunately, Mob Rule is NOT the basis of law in this country...
That reminds me of a quote from the British TV show "Yes, Minister". (from spotty memory) "Our job is not to do what is popular, it is to do what is right."
Some country (not China) decides to invest in a "Space Program" shows a bunch of people dressed in astronaut suits. Shows film of people loading into rockets. And then fires their giant "Space missile", purposely fails it and causes it to crash and explode in some neighboring country killing thousands of people. I just hope Israel and/or Palestine doesn't decide to invest in a "Space Program" any time soon.

Last night. But isn't this about the 8th time this has been posted on slashdot? Oh well some people might have missed it. The coolest thing is when the guy who does the site contacted SGI and asked if they'd put the Florida State Seminoles logo on one of their CPU's and they did!
Now we've got another bunch of "Commies" to compete against in the space race. NASA, get your ass in gear and lets get that Mars program going! Viva Capitalism!
Because "it's cool" to be a liberal and/or athiest these days. Start any religious discussion or political discussion on any online forum and quickly see it dominated by liberals or athiests. So it was posted here so the gorillas could pound their chests.
Apple does so many updates because for instance, you can't install OS X 10.0 on a current G5 system. There is no fundamental support for it. On the other hand, you can probably coax Windows 98 to work just fine (as well as it can work) on the latest computer model from Dell.
I was thinking the same thing. The article added nothing to what we already read in the Slashdot summary. The basis of the article "Someone (who is not us) says that Samba is 2.5 times faster than Windows server 2003!"
I had a problem last year with SBC constantly calling me trying to offer me DSL service when I already had Cable. Every time I told them to put me on the do-not-call list and I'd get a call back a week later. So I filed a complaint with the BBB and state attorney general and got a letter back from SBC claiming that SBC was not calling me but some third party marketing company who sells service. They said they'd make sure I was on their do not call list and I haven't gotten a call since. The numbers always came with a New York area code but were Unavailble.
I'd like to see virutual terminals running different OSes. ALT-F1 (Linux), ALT-F2 (Windows 2000) ALT-F3 (Solaris x86) complete with a filesystem shim to allow them to share the same partitions, perhaps virtual NTFS via Linux but also map out protected areas to keep OSes from stepping on each other.
I find the ctrl-c/v thing very funny. I use those in most Linux apps just fine. I don't know where he got the idea that they were foreign from... Oddly enough Roblimo sounds more like a GUI freak than the average windows user, not wanting to do KB shortcuts. Most people I know that use Windows as part of their job like to use keyboad shortcuts over mouse ones.

Yeah, considering there are so many teens on slashdot, someone who is 25 is an old man... heheh

Bugs in the kernel right? That seems rather funny. Most of what he is thinking about are probably things like OpenSSH exploits or something.

If you eat a Vindaloo in space... Can anyone hear you scream?
OT: I just had Indian food for the very first time last week. And I absolutely loved it!
so who do you think is going to be the first to jump at declaring it a hoax?
I vote for the Iraqi Information Minister...

Doesn't matter in your case, it was UDP. If you don't get the joke, don't mod down.
Unfortunately, communism is one of those things that only works in theory.

Sparc Classic 50Mhz, 48MB RAM, OpenBSD. Early 90's I believe. I still own older computers but that one is on pretty much 24x7x365.

IIRC they put some stuff on your HD in places that could screw up your system if you dual booted Linux and windows.
Watch any computer movie, any hacker can guess a password in 5 minutes. How many admins do you know that grep their logs for failed password attempts?
