  1. Proven GCC 3.3? on Apple Sets Oct. 24th Release For Mac OS X 10.3 · · Score: 1

I dunno, I'm running Gentoo on my laptop and GCC 3.3 is still masked. Not that I don't trust 3.3, but when a major computer company touts a new version of software as "proven" I just kinda wonder. But I digress. Possibly this new speedup could be by Apple using GCC 3.3 with some more aggressive compiler flags. Red letter date. Apple learns about -O3 -mcpu=PPC750 -fomit-frame-pointer -(etc etc)

I'm never actually going to go around shooting the heads off of innocent pedestrians just to see the blood spurt out of their necks, but in GTA: Vice City, I can do just that. I can also drive around in a tank and blow things up, and all without anyone getting harmed. I'm not a violent person, but I do enjoy some violence.

Strange. I just thought he was just a TV exec. For those not familiar he is the head of Newscorp, parent company of Fox and Sky.

I was also interested as to why Sobig made it and Blaster/Lovsan did not. Blaster forced people off the net because their systems were constantly rebooting. Sobig was just a clever e-mail that has been used before.

Yeah but if SGI made a version of atoi, surely it exploits vector optimizations, runs in 64 bits of precision, exploits NUMA and uses OpenGL. It may be 10x the size of the kernel but whoa, it's gotta be cool.
