    A woman is (presumed) murdered, and VA Linux is paying kdawson to ask us to discuss what effect this may have on a file system.

    I can not support this. I will no longer visit Slashdot or any other VA Linux website, and I will actively avoid any products produced by VA Linux.

    A GE monitor top cost $300 in 1930. Inflation adjusted, that's over $3,000.

    I guarantee there are $3,000 refrigerators available today designed to last more than 7 years.

    You wouldn't need a 30 degree incline. Once you imagine a 2,500 mile long magnetic launcher, there's no reason not to imagine one end poking 100,000 feet or more up above the stratosphere.

    But the links you provided refute every claim you make. The articles don't support your claims of millions killed for organ harvesting. The articles don't support your claims of hundreds of millions of female infanticides. The articles don't any of the things you claim they say. You either posted those links as a joke, or you posted them because you have the reading comprehension skills of a six year old child.

    And to be honest, I'm beginning to think that you're not joking.

    I especially liked how the one guy didn't even get the lampshade reference. It was grim, and a little stomach turning, but I like my comedy like I like my coffee.

    It's only 1,137 out of 30,000, over a period of five years. That's an 0.75% loss rate, or less than one in a hundred per year.

    Moreover, it sounds like only a third had personal information on them. For all we know, two-thirds of these laptops may be 15 years old 286's, and sitting in a warehouse next to the Ark of the Covenant.
